Re: Iran develops new mobile air defense system - national TV
^^ Ya. I absolutely detest Bush and using Tactical Nuclear Weapons against Iran is completely wrong.
Personally, I don’t think Iran is making a nuclear weapon but their current rhetoric against Israel and their support for Hezbollah is fearful that a splinter cell of Hezbollah can acquire a nuke and fire it at Israel.
So Iran is a country totally un-suitable to develop nuclear weapons.
Country like Turkey, Brazil or Japan can make nuclear weapons and there won’t be that big of a fuss, but with Iran, there is a major problem.
As for the Neutron Bomb, is one alternative.
Here is the article written by Seymour Hersh which outlined that Bush plans to use Bunker Busting Tactical Nuclear Weapons to take out Iranian facilities.
This is the only weapon in the US Arsenal short of a full Nuclear Weapon which can penetrate Iranian Nuclear Facilities deep underground.

Personally, I don't know why there is a need to discuss about military strategies in this thread which is about Iran's test of a missile defense system.
I am not a military guy, and I don't pretend to be one.
It should be obvious to everyone that Americans can destroy Iran's infrastructure. The question is, if such an attack on a country like Iran worthwhile for America's long-term goals in Middle East. Americans are finding it difficult to continue their occupation of a divided country like Iraq. They need to understand that they can not achieve any victory in a united country like Iran.
Also, such an attack can not deprive Iranians of either the kind of government they have nor their pursuit of nuclear technology.
I know pretty well that Iranians want to talk to everyone, including Americans, on how to develop confidence. But they want it based on mutual respect. And Bushies just can't give up their arrogant attitude towards a nation with thousands of years of history.

But that is a long shot...nukes are controlled. If anyone would supply any group with nukes, it would be the Russians as they are incredibly poor in security...or at least, they were.
Nukes are not massed produced, and so any nation can easily secure them.
And in any case groups like the Hezb are reliable as non-state actors since they have proven to be capable of cooperating with governments. If this were not the case, then there is no way in hell Russia would have supplied them with advanced technologies that very well could have been used against them in Central Asia.
All indicators suggest that Iran is playing the game properly (albeit with brain dead rhetoric), and has the backing of at least one major world power.

A 'normal' nuke probably wouldn't do much damage either as it doesn't penetrate deep into the surface. The bunker buster is perhaps the only weapon that possibly could do the job..and then again, does one know how deep the bunker is? What materials lie between the bunker and the surface?
To my understanding, the only reason why the bunker busters worked in Iraq was because the Americans had access to the blueprints to those German manufactured bunkers...

EMP bombs only disable electrical equipment if the equipment is turned on (live).
Besides, the equipment can be easily protected using special surfaces & material which restrict external electric fields from entering the interior. Tin foil is one example.
