And Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi. Here in Turkey people in Konya (City of Rumi) respect Iqbal alot. Most of the Irani people say the following word after I tell them that I am a Pakistani;
"Iqbal!!"
Its pity, that instead of getting inspiration from him we are discussing things like the original post..

we crores of Iqbals in the current scenario- we miss good poets. Government hasn't invested enuf money in encouraging poetry- I believe govt. should set aside 5-10% of the annual budget in paying good rewards to the good poets. Look at any advanced country and poets hold the key there- poetry can inspire any1

Yeah thats right Iqbal is famous in Iran, they call him "Iqbal lahori".

One of my colleague who belong to the same school of thought (Qadyani/Ahmedi whatever you call them), said that though he knows that Iqbal had good thoughts, but he disliked him because Iqbal strictly opposed Mirza Ghulam Ahmed
p.s. Yes, Iranis call him Lahori only because he spend alot of time in Lahore.

He got his inspiration from the great German philosopher Nietsche.
But researchers and Iqbal’s critics have argued that his concept of ‘ Khudi ‘ is not driven from Nietzsche ‘s works , Iqbal’s marday momin ( I aint referring to Zia ul Haq here) is way different from that super man concept .
