Some men will harp upon the hadith that their wives will be cursed by the angels for refusing sex…but they don’t realize that…this is what the Prophet SAWS has said about how a man should approach his wife for sexual relations:
Prophet SAWS directed husbands how they should approach their wifes, He said: “None of you should fall upon his wife like an animal; but let there first be a messenger between you.”
The Companions exclaimed, “What is that messenger?” The Prophet replied, “Kisses and (romantic) words!” (Reported by Al-Daylami)
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (Allah have mercy on him) reports in his famous “Tibb al-Nabawi” that the** Messenger of Allah **(Allah bless him & give him peace) forbade from engaging in sexual intercourse before foreplay. (See: al-Tibb al-Nabawi, 183, from Jabir ibn Abd Allah)
Does this answer your question?
In my opinion…there is NO NEED for the above ahadith. The very basic hadith of the Prophet SAWS where he states that the best men among his followers are those who are the **KINDEST **to their wives should be sufficient because it is broad enough to encompass a variety of marital situations.
Common sense should apply. Sex is a MUTUAL act. How can it be enjoyable when the feelings are not being reciprocated? Human beings have been bestowed the title “Best of Creation” by Allah…but it’s sad how we let out desires reduce us to become even lower than animals.
And I’m not saying that women/wives are always innocent…perhaps in some situations the wife is the one who is guilty and refusing sex without valid reason…or perhaps she is using sex as emotional blackmail/manipulation. But…mutual consideration for your partner’s comfort during intimacy would only enhance it. Little would be gained from a one-sided affair.
