Internal fights blamed for Pakistan rout

so, the fact that he played a couple of all-time great innings in test matches - one to save a match in India... and then to win the match in Karachi doesn't have anything to do with him being in the team?

there was a time when Chappell called Akmal the best wicket-keeper batsman in the world during Inzi's captaincy.
Everyone knows he is a close buddy of Malik and Malik opposed any idea of dropping him during his tenure.
there we go being typical Pakistani fans... honestly, sometimes I struggle to figure out what Pak cricket did to get fans like this... please check facts once in a while too. they can be useful in forming informed opinions...

for completion's sake, Akmal's decline as a keeper started in England. he was doing brilliantly with both bat and gloves before that and was called the best in the world by a couple of respected experts. then, he had a shocker in Inzi's time. Inzi refused to drop him and fought for Akmal throughout his captaincy.

Akmal also did very poorly at times under Younis. Younis refused to drop Akmal. I saw Younis' interview where he said that a lot of time had been invested in Akmal and hence, he could not be dropped because of a few problems.

and we've all seen what he did under Yousuf. *and guess what Yousuf also refused to drop Akmal. * it took a lot for Akmal to be finally dropped. but it was obvious Yousuf didn't want to drop him.

so, please read the above carefully. and read it again if you have to. but it should be painfully obvious to anyone remotely literate that all four Pak captains that Akmal has played under have refused to drop Akmal - not just Malik.
During Younis tenure, Younis openly talked about player power and politics which eventually lead to own departure from the team. He tried hard to drop some senior players but nothing happened. Want to make a guess who we are talking about?
like I mentioned Younis is on record saying that Akmal wasn't going to be dropped when he was captain. he was on TV saying that.

so, in conclusion, it is factually incorrect to say that Malik was the only one who fought to keep Akmal in the team because he is supposedly Akmal's buddy. every Pak captain has fought to keep Akmal in the team.

secondly, my original argument was that if Akmal was such a cancer, why would ever Pak captain fight so hard to keep a player in the team who has been under immense pressure from the fans and the board and especially if he is secretly sabotaging the captain and the team?

like I said, sometimes I struggle to figure out whether it is Pak fans that are being punished by being blessed with a cricket team and board like this... or whether it's Pak cricket that has been punished by being blessed with fans like us.

smoothy bhai, I'm not an Akmal fan. I've seen Rashid keep... and it bugs the hell out of me to see a keeper drop catches. it's the worst feeling in the world to see a bowler work so hard to create a chance and the keeper drop it. Akmal SHOULD be dropped for now...

but my arguments are twofold:

1) it might be difficult for Pak fans to understand this concept... but a lot of time, money and energy is invested in creating a player of international standard. you can't just chop and change at the drop of a hat.

Akmal should be dropped for now and told to work on his technique and flaws. but he should not be discarded permanently. unless of course, Sarfraz knocks it out of the park.

2) my original problem was the nonsense that is being spread by the beejamalo who wrote the afsana/article and those "fans" who're spreading the good word that Akmal is sabotaging the captain... etc...

bhai meray, if Akmal was sabotaging Yousuf and Younis, why the hell would they fight to keep him in the team? someone please explain this simple point to me. I have seen Younis on TV saying that a player like Akmal can't be dropped. Yousuf would never have dropped Akmal if the board had not forcibly sent Sarfraz to Australia...

either I'm a retard or the writer who wrote the rubbish in the opening post is a retard. but there is definitely a retard in this thread... I can smell it...

so you are not a Pak cric fan yourself? :hmmm:

Samb, I don’t have any energy anymore to aurgue with you or anyone about why Akmal should’nt be part of the team. Frankly he is not worth it and so I am not going to waste anymore time discussing him with you or anyone else.

A person who has got any sense of cricket and has closely watched pakistan cricket would understand why this player as a wicket keeper should be kept miles from wicket keeping gloves though he could play as a specialist batsman.

Waisay you are more than welcome to go thru this thread

**Chronicles of Kamran Akmal Disastrous Glove Work **

Re: Internal fights blamed for Pakistan rout

fkhan2: Samb is not defending Kamran's glovework, rather saying that he can't be behind the politics.

exactly...

however, that's just my hunch. if he is indeed involved in this kind of dirty nonsense, then not only should be dropped.. he should be disciplined and possibly banned as well.

Re: Internal fights blamed for Pakistan rout

I agree with samb on this one!

Re: Internal fights blamed for Pakistan rout

You can expect such rumours coming out of the dressing room of a losing side. I wouldn't be surprised if all of it is true.

If there is a proper infrastructure and system in place, players wouldn't be able to dictate terms. Things will happen by the book.

Re: Internal fights blamed for Pakistan rout

Kamran was kept in the team, cause of his batting. He used to play excellent knocks lower in the order in tests and upper in the orderin ODI/T20 when it was needed. But for the past many months his performance with the bat was mediocre, he was throwing his wicket for no good reason. apart from the final T20, his highest score in the tour was 34.

So he was in the team based on his batting only, his glovework has been stupid for the past two years or so, he seldom takes a brilliant catch. So for me, Younis and others used to protect him cause of his batting. Our Middle and upper order were so pathetic that they used to reply on lower order batsman to score runs and protect them.

Re: Internal fights blamed for Pakistan rout

Pakistani team SUCKED. Simple. No excuses. The only bright thing is Asif's consistency. He is back and looks threatening as ever.

Re: Internal fights blamed for Pakistan rout

Kamran Akmal is definetly involved in team politics...no doubt about that. There is no way he stayed in the team after being such a pathetic keeper over the years just because of his batting. He is no Tendulkar or Lara.

He is the type of player that will kiss any captains ass...and thats precisely the reason why all captain's love him. Plus, he has shown the willingness to bat at any position as long as he is in the playing eleven. In ODI's captain's prefered him to open so they could play extra bowler/batsman/all rounder in the team.

After the 2nd test against the Aussies, where he dropped 4 catches and missed a run out he came out and clearly told the media that he WILL be playing the in the next match. That statement alone goes to show his 'daadagiri'. He obviously knows no matter how pathetic he performs, he has kissed enough ass of the captain and coach that he will be retained no matter what. It was only after the media bashed him, anaylists bashed him and PCB decided to send Sarfraz on the next flight to Australia that he was forced to sit out. I remember even Yousuf coming out and defending him and compared him to Ponting and how Ponting is having a bad patch too...stupidity at its best once again from Yousuf.

So last game of the tour, Akmal decides he wants to bat...and knowing Pakistani mentality and how quickly they forget things...majority of us will only remember his 64 in T20 and once again he will be a part of the playing eleven in all three formats of the game.
