I hope I don’t piss you guys off with this question because I seriously do appreciate your input.. but how hard would it be for the guy to fake that he’s muslim infront of an immigrant maulvi at some small masjid? what about a fake conversion where the maulvi thinks he’s done the conversion but the guy really doesn’t change his name or religion on any legal documents?

Yeah, that’s just messed up to be honest. But hey, that dude’s call. I got nothing to say to that one.
