:smack2: Still didn’t get from you guys what I really wanted to ask when I started the thread.
Most of you guys are still discussing options of playing with malik and butt or butt and hamid or looking at the domestic circuit to find a good partner for one of the above mentioned players.
Bhaiooo my point is if pakistan stick with 4 of their middle order players in test match squad i.e inzi, youhana, younis and akmal, which i guess they will, considering they all have cemented their position in the side for the next season and if they stick with afridi and razzak which is also likely to happen, then in that case THERE IS NO WAY PAKISTAN CAN PLAY WITH 2 NATURAL OPENERS like salman and hamid or salman and malik or malik and hamid since there will no space for any 2 of them.
In the next match or series we can’t have 2 natural openers( salman or hamid or malik) along with 4 middle order batsmen, afridi and razak. If they play 4 middle order players and 2 allrounders then only one of them (butt, hamid, malik) will be able to make it to the final 11.

I for one, don’t like too many all rounders in Test matches, 2 all rounders is enough, 3 is a stretch. We should have 2 regular openers (Butt + one more, may be Akmal :ahaa: ), 4 middle order (Younis, Inzamam, Youhanna, Asim Kamal), 2 all rounders (Razzaq + Afridi/Malik), 3 bowlers (Rana/Rao, Shabbir/Akhtar/Gul, Kaneria/Shahid Nazir/some other).

I agree. So basically the pakistan team lineup should like this

  1. Salman butt/yasir hamid or some other specialist opener
  2. Younis
  3. Inzi
  4. Youhana
  5. Kamal
  6. Afridi
  7. Razzak
  8. Akmal
  9. Pacer
  10. Pacer
  11. Spinner

Younis or afridi can switch positions according to the situation. So most of the time it could be younis opening and then afridi coming only when needed.
