Re: Indians and Pakistanis…
agree that this spirt is awesome and i love diversity and i am sure India belongs to all Indians, be it Muslims, Hindus, jains, christians, sikhs, parsis but at the same time one needs to be unbiased and keep asking million dollar question that why did muslims decide to separate … so obviously everything was not great … and I mean majority of Muslims wanted that…now Indians dont like to believe that notion but the fact remains that Muslim league won 90% of musim seats in 1946 elections…and muslim league was running elections on Pakistan movement slogan… Calling jinnah a British agent is a convenient theory for Indians but it is not going to solve historical dilemmas…
i believe that under British rule by 1940, considerable hatred and mistrust had developed between both communities. All major hindu-muslim joint movements on several issues were failed… most notably Gandhi and the Muslim Khilafat Movement](http://www.preservearticles.com/201106278535/gandhi-and-the-khilafat-movement-1920.html) failed … Nehru and congress’ stern opposition to Jinnah 14 points in 1929 was a fatal blow, Muslims staying away from Gandhi Salt March: 1930](Gandhi Salt March: 1930) did not help either… but most importantly Congress behavior after winning 1937 elections provided more fuel to this Muslims separation theory …
Muslim leadership - with some legitimacy - therefore felt that muslims will always be a minority and will get a rough treatment by the majority both inside and outside the constitutional assembly…
to be honest gandhi always tried to satisfy muslims concerns but patel and later nehru remained alien to Muslims concerns for most part…anyway, just some historical perspective! I love indo-pak history… but we need to be as unbiased as possible and read different books from different sources to establish an opinion
