An Idiot is somebody who commits the same mistake repeatedly expecting a different outcome each time.
By this logic, the Indian Selection committee are a bunch of idiots.
By including Uthappa, Sehwag and Gambhir they are once again recycling the same opening alternatives. Given that the pitches would be flat and the opposition would be Bangladesh, I expect these guys to deliver some 100's and 50's as they usually do under such friendly circumstances. What that would mean, however, is that Uthappa/Sehwag/Gambhir will continue to be in the reckoning for future series against tougher oppositions and in tougher conditions.....where ofcourse they will prove themselves once again to be CRAP....like we have always known them to be.
What the selection committe has done is criminal in my opinion. They have wasted a golden opportunity to try out youngsters against Bangladesh (They needed to include at least 5 more Manoj Tewarys in the side). Really, what is it about Uthappa/Sehwag/Gambhir/VRV/etc that we haven't seen already. Why give them a chance to perform against BD and mislead us once again.
I also wonder why only Pathan gets special attention for bad performance. If anything, I am 100% confident that Pathan will outscore Uthappa/Sehwag/Gambhir at least 7 out of 10 times, if he were to open the batting with any of them(an no matter how bad he bowls, he also provides a bowling option). But our selection committee is not particularly known to be creative (like Chappel was , I have to say). If it was not for Chappel, Karthick would have been forgotten....But guess who got offloaded after the WC ouster - not Tendu, not Sehwag, not Gangu -- but Chappel.
Indian public's memory is short. A couple of centuries by Tendulkar against Bangladesh...and he will be set for another 2 years !!
Well done Indian Selection Committee...how did you leave out Agarkar...I will never know.
