I do not know much about VRV Singh...but unless he had a rare off-day, it is surprising to me that he should be picked ahead of Munaf.

My understanding is, that though VRV has played lesser matches, and he has been taking top order batsmen while Patel is mostly known to clean up the tail. Though surely this wasn't the case in match against England.

Well in that case VRV is mroe valuable.

VRV has less experience. Besides the performance of Munaf in the A side matches is better than for VRV.
Why is that there is one rule of VRV and one rule for Munaf. the selectors has asked that nothing is lost and that Gambhir and Munaf would play in the A sides and have the oppertunity to be in the test side later in the year.I mean.. why not then VRV being tested in the A side for longer duration.
If the selection is based on giving young guys more chances then they should be considered together. Zaheer Khan had a horrible series in Pakistan. So why not remove him and have Munaf in. I thought Agarkar was better than Zaheer in Pakistan.
I think its more regional. Zaheer, Irfan and Munaf comes from Gujarat. They cant have 3 from Gujarat at the same time i suppose. Besides i think the Chandigarh no representation, as Yuvaraj is out.

And Gambhir just completed his hundred against England. He looks to me India's Hasan Raza :D
