These guys have right to protest. And this is the way those guys protest by burning pics (and I guess homes too.:) )
These protestors are the most stupidist people I have ever heard of, instead of supporting your team they are putting more pressure, I wonder what will they do if India goes onto beat Pakistan and wins the WC, will they start praising them again. These people are jaahil and idiots, one minute they treat you as a god and the next minute you are the worst enemy, lack of education and lack of common sense is showing in these idiots. Our Pakistani crowds look like 1st class citizens in front of them.

**Indian batting order in a complete disarray
Tapan Joshi in Johannesburg
February 17, 2003
The Indian team management’s thinking is getting worse. The news from Harare is the thinktank has decided to bring back Sachin Tendulkar at number four in the batting order, and skipper Sourav Ganguly, woefully out of form, will go in at number five.
Opening the innings for India will be Virender Sehwag and another batsman struggling for runs, Dinesh Mongia. Now what is going on out there? One fully agrees with the decision to make Ganguly bat lower down the order, but why Tendulkar?
Tendulkar has been India’s highest run getter against both Holland and Australia. And Mongia, who didn’t know where his next run was going to come from, promoted up the order is nothing but ridiculous thinking. Please don’t tell me he scored 40-odd against Holland. That, by no means, can be termed as return to form.
One wonders if the Indian team will now even make it to the Super Six stage. The team is so scared of losing, it is psychologically scarred and that can be the only reason why the captain and the coach want Tendulkar back at number four to hold fort.
This is a team which has a no settled batting line-up, and the youngsters are living on the edge. With the skipper having lost confidence in his own ability, he cannot lead this side which is so short on confidence.
It is a bouncy track at Harare and Heath Streak has already made his thinking very clear. In an exclusive conversation with CricketNext.com, Streak said his side won’t shy away from playing a mental game with India on Wednesday.
“The Indians are down and we intend to keep them down,” said Streak. However, going by the way the Indians are thinking, Streak and his lads won’t have to try too hard. There is also the move to promote Rahul Dravid at number three, which can be a useful tactic. However, there is no way Mongia can replace Tendulkar at the top of the order. **
Dropping Tendulkar to number 4 is a big mistake, either he opens or comes in at number 3. Ganguly is form but that is temporary, give him atleast 2 more matches to find his form before the big game. What makes them think Ganguly coming at number 5 would do any good, he is as much as vulnerable to fast bowlers either coming at 1 or 5.
Promoting Dravid to open maybe a good idea. He doesn’t tend to throw his wicket by playing wild shots specially against good bowlers. And maybe promote Mongia up the order.
This happens when a large nation has high hopes associated with their team. People in the subcontinent tend to get disheartened and 'mayoos' a little too early... India has played just two matches, lost one and won one, no reason to protest this early, especially a loss against Australia...
Some jokers used to redicule our people for doing similar things to Akram and his family when we lost to India in 1996, they should have a look at their own 'gerehbaan' now. You can judge what happened when India lost to Australia, imagine what these so called fans would do if their team looses to Pakistan in the wcup!!!
Did you guys watch ZTV News today?
Oh man, it was really funny and very scary at another point. The people are over their mind now.
Sure they showed the demonstrations with the dummies, and hitting the dummies and burning them, etc..
But when the leader or someone did a speach to ZTV. He proclaimed, "We will not let them land there plane in Mumbai, as this is our area. If they are to lose to Pakistan, then they will never come back to India again and move somewhere else." It went something like that.
WOOW, I hope PAK beats the indians and then we’ll see if their plan of not letting the indian team plane land will go ahead or not, if the plan goes ahead that will be interesting to watch ![]()
Comments from Gavaskar Sahib...
**
"India's pathetic showing in their game against Australia has almost ruined their World Cup chances," Gavaskar wrote in a Sunday newspaper column.**
Gavaskar used to be the first defender of the team, whenever the performance was dismal, now he too has a changed opinion.
this is unbelievably sad
Well in my opinion, most of indian fans have not lost hope. sure, most of them are angry, but still they know, their team can come back to form on any good day and that will ba bad news for almost all of the opponents. And YES to extreme, India on its day can easily beat Australia and they have done it many times in past. Its all matter of time. I guess India and pakistan are the two top unpredictable teams. And they are capable of any "Ulat Fer".

Well, we can have the Indians land in Lahore and play a test series with us. It's been a while since we did some Khaatir-tawaazo of our hamsaayaas. How about a can of whoop ass in a series defeat?.
And if they lose the test series then I guess the indian fanatics will haunt the indian team to their graves ![]()
I have seen angry cricket fans first hand, burning effigys and posters in Lahore and attacking cricketer's homes. Its horrible.
If these fans think this is a way of putting pressure on the team to perform better in the next matches, and the threat of violence will make the cricketers play better, then they are hopelessly mistaken. A fear of attack at their homes and bodily harm to themselves and their loved-ones is the worst possible thing to be worried about in the field.
Cricket is just a game. You win. You lose. I agree that the spineless way in which Indians lost the match against Aussies was troubling, but the tournament has just started. Let them concentrate on their game. If they put up a good show, even if they lose, its nothing to be ashamed of. Same goes for Pakistan.
Very well Said Faisal :k: . Win/Lose are part of the game. A team cant win everyday. This is the same team which chased 325 in Lords. They cant do that in every game. We must have hope and we must support our teams at all times.

As if the pressure of playing in a World Cup wasn’t enough, India’s players have had to cope with a public backlash at home following their heavy defeat by Australia at the weekend.
The Indian prime minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, intervened to appeal for calm. “I am dismayed at the improper manner in which cricket fans in some places have given vent to their feelings at the performance of our team so far,” he said in a statement. “Victory and defeat are all a part of the game. Sportsmanship lies in showing confidence in our team and cheering it to do better.”
Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar too issued a statement from Harare. “I am here on behalf of the Indian cricket team,” he told reporters. “We are very disappointed with the kind of performances we have put up and I also understand the disappointment you [the fans] have gone through. I am just here to assure all of you that we will be fighting in all the games until the last ball is bowled so please continue to support us, as you have done in the past, which will surely help us.”
The two extraordinary appeals came after disappointed Indian fans publicly expressed their anger. In Kolkata a mock funeral was held for Sourav Ganguly, and a straw effigy was burned while crowds chanted “Down with Ganguly”. Narayan Ghosh, the deputy inspector-general of police in Kolkata, said that Ganguly’s home is under a security cover and the Rapid Action Force, a specialist anti-riot unit, has been posted nearby.
In Allahabad, black paint and oil was thrown at the house of Mohammad Kaif, resulting in the Karnataka government deciding to provide “suitable security” to the houses of the three Bangalore-based Indian players. “The attack was not serious, but it was very disappointing,” a member of Kaif’s family said.
In Mumbai, fans set fire to posters of Ganguly, Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. “The whole of India is very angry,” protest organiser Ashok Jadhav was quoted as saying. “This team is one of the world’s best but their performance has been very bad.”
Rather worryingly Jadhav pointed out that the fans’ unhappiness could grow if India were to lose to Pakistan on March 1. “If India lose, then people won’t allow them to even come out of the airport.”
In India’s parliament, opposition Congress MP Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi demanded full security for the cricketers and their relatives. He said instead of fans deriding the team, “we should collectively pray for victory in the remaining matches.”
India play Zimbabwe on Wednesday. Harare will probably seem like a safe haven after this.

Well said.
Indian great seamer Venkatesh Prasad had this to say on the current Indian superstars...
Well, this team has different priorities at the moment. For some reason they are too much into modeling and stuff like that. They did get a break after the New Zealand series, and from what I gather, they were busy modeling. That is the time they should have concentrated on the game. Endorsements are part of the game and they have to oblige the sponsors but not to this extent.
They (Modeling and cricket) are two completely different things. But when something exceeds the limit you are in trouble. You need to draw a line somewhere.
