nope...upward of 20%...in some states, they are 25%...the official figures are somewhat old and undependable. it's common knowledge that we are more in number than what the statistics show.
According to Abul Kalam Azad, had Pakistan not created, the Muslims would have been 40 to 45% in India and definitely power shifting entity. Most probably Muslims might have ruled India rather than Modi type people.

No way, there would be a civil war like syria going on. If muslim Sunni & Shia cannot get along, do you think they will get along with the hindus?

we don't have shia sunni problem or problem with Barelvis at present time in India...second largest concentration of Muslims in the world is in India, Indonesia being the ONLY country in the world which has the largest Muslim population anywhere in the world.

Agree here... people on both sides would have been better off without partition.
However, it cannot be undone now. Just hope for peace.

KKF bhai i agree but i thought Pakistan had more than us and we were third.
It is telling that the main parties have to be anti Pakistan in order to win the election. This indicates an obsession with Pakistan in India. I think that a BJP win would be better for Pakistan as they would be able to make the hard choices that are necessary for India. They may also silence the group in Pakistan that believes in appeasement or the bayghairat brigade.

Chances are that he won't win but why is it necessary to silence groups. Why can't all groups be free in Pakistan to say what they want. I mean they're only artists.
Your post is a bit offensive and sarcastic. The words you chose “if it cannot offer protection to these minorities” is simply your figment of imagination and inflammatory.
On a separate discussion: I don’t think there is so called discrimination in the constitution of Pakistan against Ahmadis. They are declared non Muslims. And vast majority of Muslims do not consider them Muslims.

sorry to come across as offensive and inflammatory that was not the intention. I realise they are non-muslims and I understand the reason why but I just don't see why the government should specifically call them non-muslims. Or how it harms the government if they do pose as Muslims. Can it not be ignored if most clerics disagree with it? This only happened in 1974 and before that there was nothing against them? Is it fair for those who thought they wouldn't be declared non-Muslim? Other non-muslims don't have a law where they are specifically called non-Muslims. Or why Ahmadi girls studying in college should be discriminated against or expelled because of this or have to hear anti-Ahmadi sentiments in class. I have heard about this on the express tribune documentary.
I was just offering an alternative approach so that to outsiders this does not come across as discrimination and at the same time you protect their rights. What happened with Dr Abdul Salam when he was declared a non Muslim despite being a Nobel prize winner, is it right that he had to live away from his homeland and spent his last breath in a foreign land? Or that his tomb got defaced?
As for discrimination against minorities there have been articles on how the blasphemy law has been used to target minorities which was also shown on the video. I don't think many Pakistanis agree with that.

I am also sorry others may buy it, but I do not buy your bold sentence.
What you might not know that A-Salam on his own left the country as a protest. So if you want to blame anyone then blame A-Salam himself. Bhutto Asked him to stay but he did not.
So please try not to say things you have no idea about and be like Mr. Southie's passive aggresive positions. Your Makhan Baazi posts are well known. :)

i had a few positives in that post as well as the 1-2 negatives i mentioned. Plus a disclaimer. But fine point taken Pakistani politics is not my thing. perhaps i got emotional watching some videos that might not show the complete truth and perhaps things are quite fair for Ahmadis. The law maybe is misunderstood like laws everywhere.

Muslims in India are about 220-250 million while Pakistan is at 180 million.
if Modi wins, there is a real hope for peace between pakistan and india....we already saw that his tone has become more conciliatory after becoming PM candidate...he will be far more reasonable after becoming PM....he belongs to anti-pak BJP, so if he wants to have peaceful relationship, there is a real chance for it considering Nawaz sharif wants peace as well. if congress wins, it will be another 5 years of flip-flop on Pakistan-india relationship.Congress is always scared of BJP when it comes to pakistan..BJP especially Modi will have a reverse psychology benefit.
