I get a feeling that Indian Batsmen (esp the 4 boodheys) are over-analyzing Mendis and giving him more respect than due.
I say this because "brainless" Sehwag has been so successful against Mendis -- it should mean that others are indulging in too much thinking when facing Mendis.
sehwag cricket thinking skills are probably at the same level as the rest in the team, if not better. But I agree with you that the rest of the batsmen are over-analyzing him since they try to predetermine their shots instead of playing the ball on its merit, but I don't blame them as Mendis is a big wicket taker and if you can get tendulkar, dravid and ganguly thinking, you are doing well for yourself. sehwag, gambhir and dhoni are probably the better players of spin. India is missing Dhoni big time - karthik has dropped catches, missed stumping's, and was pretty ordinary with the bat.
if we do pull this off, it would be because of sehwag and bhajji, both have a knack for performing when the cards are down.
From listening to the comments on Cricinfo (I am not watching the game), it seems like the pitch is still good to bat on....which means any target less than 375 would be very attainable by the Sri Lankans.
I don't have very high hopes from the Indian tail. We will be lucky to set a target of even 350 I think.
Murli makes half-hearted appeal, umpire gives it out, review, ganguly given not out. Review system coming into good effect throughout the series so far.

as long as ganguly and karthik are there, runs will come quick. Tail has zero chance to face M&M, they are just too good. I think we can post something close to 350, but it all depends on the two players batting.
Karthik hits a six off Mendis (meanwhile, Ranjit Fernando is shocked). Next ball, totally squared up.
That 2nd ball was a beauty, similiar to the laxman dismissal, its almost impossible to play him at times. Ball is spinning square right now, kumble can be lethal.
Edit:
Verdict: NOT OUT, i think he is very lucky, that looked out to me.
The ball pitched on the line of middle stump and was going to hit the off-stump. Mark Benson had the doubt of whether the height was the problem, I assume, and even with the review, his decision should have been reversed.

When was the last time Kumble was lethal on a spinning wicket.
Harbhajan but never Kumble.
Kumble is the king of underprepared wickets with variable bounce.....but not spinning wickets.....because he is hardly a spinner.

Yeah height was the problem, it was hard to tell so he probably just let the on field umpire give the call on his first impression. But to me, I would have probably given that out. Kumble gets like 20 legit LBW appeals turned down per game so I think the review system will come in handy for him.

It is day 4 and I cant give you a game but thats what I have seen with him. He gets little turn, and that is more lethal. Edges are common, and also LBWs.

That was a very poor decision by the third umpire. We saw ball pitching on middle stump and going straight onto hit the stumps, although the hawk-eye stopped at only the height where it hit Ganguly's pad.
