India vs Sri Lanka

Come on Lanka :jhanda:
Don’t forget we still have to beat BD. The daunting prospect of facing dashing attacking batsmen Tushar Imran and Manjural Islam can’t be easily overlooked

hello

Who says Tendulkar didn't perfom?? He made 78 and that was very responsible batting too plus he took 3 wickets. If he had not then pak would have surely scored 25 more runs and then the bonus point would have gone to pak instead. What else u want. He had no support from any other Indian batsman.

Its for others to give little master some support. Those who need to show some performance in this series are Sehwag and Kaif. Dravid also failed in this match and so did yuvi. Ganguly was just ok. Insha allah India will win against SL, allah malik hai. Aameen

With their place in the Asia Cup final secure, Sri Lanka are set to rest several key players in their final group match against India tomorrow, to give other members of the squad an outing. But Marvan Atapattu, their captain, has insisted that they will be approaching the game with the same intensity as ever.

"Pakistan are a bit more unpredictable than the Indians and they have a better bowling attack as well, but on a given day both teams can be a threat," said Atapattu. "So my team will be trying to concentrate on our game rather than concentrating too much on the opposition."

Sri Lanka's bowling resources could be stretched to the limit, with neither Muttiah Muralitharan nor Chaminda Vaas likely to be available for the game. Murali will be attending the funeral of his grandfather, who died this week, while Vaas has been under the weather with flu, and could be rested as a precaution.

"Vaas is not 100% fit as of yet," admitted Atapattu. "We will wait and see how he is, but he is an important member so hopefully he will be fit. Almost everyone has had the bug now, but the good thing about it is that it comes and goes. We will see what we can do about giving some of the youngsters exposure."

One the most exciting bowlers waiting in the wings for Sri Lanka is Lasith Malinga, who burst onto the scene with his slingy action against Australia last month. "It would be interesting to see how Malinga goes against some good, well-recognised players," said Atapattu. "So if we have the slightest chance with Vaas I think he should be rested.

Elsewhere, Saman Jayantha is due a chance with the bat, and may be accommodated at the top of the order, with Thilina Kandamby a likely starter as well. "We will try and accommodate the youngsters as much as we can," he added, "while ensuring that we can play the game to the best of our ability.

"Things have gelled. We are playing as team and feeling for one another. But you also need a bit of luck and fortunately things have been going our way. We should be carrying this on, not just for one tournament or two months, but for a couple of years."

^^ Looks like SL are going to hand the game to India. No worries, at least we will have gone out on a good note.

Taking single on first ball of an over with a tailender on the other side is not really playing a "master" inning.

thats what i thought as soon as I saw the SL giving a go to their youngsters.

I would just add here that if SL field a weakened side I won't watch any further matches as the tournament will have lost it's competitive edge. Both this match and the Final will be cheapened.

actually that would also translate into them (SL) being more afraid of Pakistan then India :)

It depends who SL wants to face in the final. If they feel threatened by India they will play their full strength team tomorrow in order to get rid of India, otherwise give youngsters chance and get India into the finals. It could back fire though.

Maybe watching India getting turned over has got them worried. It'll almost certainly backfire anyway. I expect India will beat them in the Final as psychologically SL will have given the advantage to India.

-ditto-

This is pathetic, no Vaas, no Murali, what’s left? Oh and a few new youngsters

Yep, SL are gonna roll over for India tomorrow. Probably decided that after watching the new Pak team

How about a rainning day tomorrow and the match is wash out ? :D

I dont think SL will give it up so easily. This report has been clearly manipulated to create controversy. It doesnt makes sense.
They had easy time beating Pakistan and they really stuggled to beat India. Sri Lankan know that they India will be tougher opposition.
Sri Lankan has genuine problem. Murali has to atten his grandfather funeral. In case of Vas,Sri Lankan are doing what any smart person will do. If He is ill, doesnt it make sense to rest him and use him in all important final game.Rahter than risky him in this game and lose him in final.
I can understand how Pakistan supporters are feeling but you cant balme anyone for this.

I don't think there would be any youngsters playing if SL hadn't already qualified.

True... because in that case question of playing in final doesnt come. In that case they had to win the match in hand and obviously they would have gone all out to win at any cost. (Including Risking Vas)

Point is what will you do if you were Sri Lankan.
Risk your main bowler to win a match which is not important for you and then lose him in all important final.

Whatever. It still means that Pakistan are probably out of the competition because SL are going to play a weakened side which means I lose interest in the competition. So I won't watch the matches...what would you do if you were in my position?

Just be sport and hope SL with these 2 changes can still beat India. Malinga is pretty good bowler. He did trouble Aussies in AUS a lot.

Look compared to last team that beat India Sri lanka this time will lose Murali & Vas and will gain Jaysurya. They can still get India.

F&B I understand what you are saying it just seems SL are being more complacent than they need to be and seem to enjoy the opportunity to pick their final opponent. I can bet India are winning this one. Congrats in advance.
