Good observation. Gambhir went trhough a stretch when he scored 1 run off an over, and continued in that sluggish pace. Considering he came in at ~ 160 for 1, he had an obligation to step it up, not play like it was a test match. The fact that his numbers at the end looked OK is not as relevant as the fact that he clogged up the inning - thus creating pressure on everyone to play bad shots.
Still cant understand the haters - I cant imagine rooting against Pakistan (in spite of the jokers)
Gautam just played the situation, as Dhoni rightly said, it is not all about Six and Fours, it is about rotating strike and as other experts have said all the time, partnerships are the one which takes any team home, had Gambhir got out at that stage playing some silly shot to accelerate run rate, it would have ruined the work done by Tendulkar and Sehwag, the blame goes to the Captain who i must say took singles and exposed tail enders in front of South African bowling attack.... had Yuraj and others played sensibly, i.e. not trying to smash every ball out of the ground, India could have easily scored 350 runs...

I know and i agree, but i am not the owner of the team. And i dont think there are much choices for bowlers we have. atleast not in this WC. So we will have to manage with what we got. we can improve our fielding to compensate for a bowler though.
Regarding Tendulkar, he is like demigod in India. Everybody has so much faith and trust in him that it makes you dream unreal. even the team member get relaxed when sachin is playing, everyone expects him to take care of other team singlehandedly. nobody wants to compete with him. there are no dravids and gangulys left. And once he is gone after a big innings, reality hit the players and they start collapsing. for Indian team to take responsibility they need sachin to get out soon.
I also agree that IPL has ruined our players, but with modi gone, i think there is a hope.

You supported S.A and we got off to a great start,Alas,we could not build a massive total.But again it happened when some of you started supporting India and hence the downfall started.Next time,pls support our opponent right through the match and we will win easily.

Ehsanji - do you seriously disagree that India has a much much better batting line up than Pakistan? I brought u NZ only because a couple of trolls here (? and the other one is manbearpig were making nonsensical statements to inflate).

yaar I have always said that forget Pakistan, India has the best batting line up of any cricket playing nation. Our batting in comparison is very weak and it is obvious. The bottom line is we have a strong bowling line up you have a strong batting line up. what is happening currently is that your weak link is not covering up your strong point i.e. whatever score you put up your bowling line up doesn't seem to be able to defend it effectively and this should be a case of worry for your team. On the other hand our bowling line up seem to be able to defend modest scores put up by our batting line up, as in case of SL and Canada match. Obviously both sides strong points can have a day off like we had against NZ and you had against SA.
