Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
Even though...Ireland did awesome against England but I have a feeling that their guns are going to remain quiet against Indian spinners. If India batted first, the total by the end of the day could be 350+ and just O'Brian can't catch up to that.........Go get 'em India
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
Once the great Aussie team came down from their peak, it is clear a half dozen teams are in the second place with marginal difference amongst them. India, Pakistan, SA, SL, England can all win and beat anyother depending which player fires that day. WI & NZ seem to have some catching up to do but good to see teams like Ireland and Kenya at least threatening stronger teams. Cricket is getting exciting again (except for some reason I can't get used to IPL, trading of players etc).
**Even though it breaks my heart to say it I think Pakistan has regained their status as the most difficult team to beat. **I cannot see anyother team having establish themselves as the contender. Let us all wish that they collapse from this status soon, well before finals!
Without Sachin, India is no better than most other teams and combined with the weakness in bowling, I don't know where all the expectations and front-runner status came from. Just because most of the cricketing money is in India doesn't make the team any better - except in the income tax department. We haven't produced a single world class bowler. The team however has gotten good result with sheer spirits - the ability to will its way through adversity. That may stand in good for them. Let us hope the batting juggernaut holds its end up.
Sri Lanka has been the biggest surprise - they are playing well under their caliber
only if the batters do their job. i.e. if the batting clicks then we have a chance. Batting is the key. If Pakistan bat first and score 275-280, I believe they can give a hard time to any side on account of their bowling attack which has both variety and penetration

yup batting is key.i don't think 270-280 will be enough.it may be good on sri lankan wickets.
players like afridi will not have same impact on indian players he may contain some runs like 30-40 runs for 10 overs. sri lankan pirch really did help afridi. if u take out 14 wickets from afridi it would be hard for pakistan
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
Yeah on the indian tracks 300+ seems to be the get out of jail score with Pak bowling (minus off days where even 1 bowler if targeted by opposition batting could end it for Pak)

Even on the indian pitches expect scores to come down a bit during the KO stage. You won't see many 300+ totals. The reason why we are seeing such high scores right now is because it is still group stage. Batsmen can afford to bat in carefree manner because they know that 3 wins are enough to progress to the next round. The real contests will start from the KO stage. There will be more pressure on batters then and they w'd plan to mix caution with aggression. One slip up and you are out of the world cup
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
India will win this game. But I think the match will be very similar to Pakistan vs Canada match.
Ireland will give India a scare but India will win in the end.
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
its guinness time either way.

i doubt that.
end of the day it depends on pitch.if it is slower turner and ball not coming onto bat i agree with you 250 would be right score.if all pitches are similar to banglore 300 is minimum.also remember most of the knock out including final is played in india

No way!!
Going by uyour logic, the next stages should give great ghreat totals because batsmen know its going to be a do or die situation hence they will turn out to me more efficatious...
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
India (probable): 1 Virender Sehwag, 2 Sachin Tendulkar, 3 Gautam Gambhir, 4 Virat Kohli, 5 Yuvraj Singh, 6 MS Dhoni (wk/capt), 7 Yusuf Pathan, 8 Harbhajan Singh, 9 Zaheer Khan, 10 Piyush Chawla, 11 Munaf Patel
Ireland (probable): 1 William Porterfield (capt), 2 Paul Stirling, 3 Ed Joyce, 4 Niall O’Brien (wk), 5 Kevin O’Brien, 6 Alex Cusack, 7 Andre Botha/Gary Wilson, 8 John Mooney, 9 Trent Johnston, 10 George Dockrell, 11 Boyd Rankin
Pitch and conditions
The pitch used will be the same one that produced 676 runs in India’s game against England. It wore a green and grassy look on Saturday, though that may well change after it’s been shaved and rolled, and though a dryer surface might give a little more help to the spinners (and help scuff up the ball and aid reverse swing later on), it’s unlikely to be greatly dissimilar to the pitches seen here in recent times. Expect another high-scoring game on what should be a bright, sunny afternoon and a warm, clear evening.
Stats and trivia
Gary Wilson, who played in the match against England, made his ODI debut in the 2007 game against India.
Before this tournament started, the warm-up matches in Bangalore suggested conditions might favour spinners, but the ground has since produced 1,332 runs in just two games. The average score in the last three full internationals played here is 328.
The two men opening the batting for India, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar, have scored more runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium than anyone else. Tendulkar leads the way with 496 runs at 49.60, while Sehwag has 323 at 64.60 - although he’s never scored an ODI hundred here. Zaheer Khan leads the way with wickets, having taken 11 at 30.18.
Quotes
“We have done the servicing and overhauling of all the cars for the race, and if at night there’s no electrical failure then everyone will be available, so we’ll pick the best XI cars.”
MS Dhoni cannot hide his enthusiasm for motor-vehicles while discussing the team selection
“If you can’t go out there and get up for a game in front of 40-50,000 people then I think there’s something wrong with you. Whether they are for you or against you, it doesn’t matter. Obviously we will be looking to silence them as well.”
William Porterfield, the Ireland captain, is not worried about the pressures of a partisan crowd cheering against his team

Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
Hope to see a similar outstanding performance by Ireland as they performed against England.
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
i doubt Ireland can repeat it's performance again till the next world cup... but nothing is impossible in cricket... it should be walk-in-the-park for India
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
Hope to see India bring in some new players - it is a long tournament - should rest some players.
Re: India Vs Ireland (06th March) @Bangalore
dhoni won the toss and elected to field.
there goes our chances of making 500+ :(

Moiz: "Don't you think that despite winning the toss, India missed out their chance of increasing their net run rate in the points table ? They could have scored +300 & got Ireland out cheaply; which could have increased their Net RR." I think Dhoni is more keen on securing the two points, than focusing on the NRR. Not a bad approach, after seeing what Ireland did to England.
