Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
Pakistan should carry out the justice, if he has been proved to be terrorist/spy then the punishment should be carried out.

Kasab’s hanging: Imran playing ‘dirty’ politics, says Sarabjit’s lawyer
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
^ Actually I was thinking the same thing. I did not follow Kasab case at all. So had no opinion on if he was guilty or not. Based on posts in the other thread it appeared folks here acknowledge he was guilty.
I have never heard of Sarabjit. Don't know what he has been alleged to have done. Found the timing a bit suspect - a git for tat rather than merits of the case.
How many here strongly believe Sarabjit was guilty beyond reasonable grounds. Question is not if he is convicted, but how convinced are you he is guilty.
I am anticipating some comments such as It doesn't matter. He has been found guilty. I am looking for comments from those who are willing to share their conviction of his guilt.
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
I don’t care what Imran Khan or Nawaz Sharif or PPP is saying in that matter, to me they all try to wash their hands and gains points in such times.

I appreciate you .
There is a supplementary question
Why this word 'Dirty' is used for IK everywhere ?
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
India fast-tracked Kasab's death sentence, and politics was involved. The whole process took about 4 years. There were more than 300 other death row inmates ahead in line of Kasab, yet he was promoted to the top of the list and executed. Sarabjit has been found guilty fair and square. Its simply a case of bureaucracy and red tape gone bad. Pakistan and India have always taken tit for tat measures, so I dont know what the uncle above means when he cites Imran's demand for Sarabjit to be hanged in response. Dirty politics my foot. The guy was sentenced 20+ years ago. If there was any proof of his innocence, it would have come out by now.

The last two accused spies (I think there were two of them) that the Pakistan govt released went back to India and admitted they were spies. Apparently they were bitter over the treatment they received at the hands of the Indian govt on their arrival. So that gives some credibility to the Pakistanis. Sarabjit I believe claims to have been nothing more then a hapless drunk who stumbled across the border by accident. Doesn't seem probable however. Regardless, I dont think he deserves the death penalty, even if he is a spy.
That India killed Kasab shouldn't have any bearing on this case. Killing Sarbjit just to spite India doesn't reflect well on anyone.

Than you Med. A fair response. Why am I not surprised?

The law should be followed, if the law says execute the spy then that is what needs to be done, I believe that is the most common law around.
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
Why should there be two opinions — and two different fates — for those who took many innocent lives?
Kasab and Sarabjit are relatives by their motives. Their nationalities and religions have nothing to do with their deeds.
If anyone is still confused, how about asking the relatives of those who were killed by Sarabjit's blasts?

He was a spy but it does not mean that he had a licence to kill people. His blasts in Lahore and Faisalabad had killed 14 people.
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
OK I was not aware he was associated with blasts.
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
Captain,
Thank you for providing the link. Since I know nothing about this case, this was very imformative. Clearly blasts killed several people. Question is was Sarabjit involved.
The son of a person killed (Salim?) Withdrew his testimony ( which he said was given under pressure from Pakistani authorities ). Sarabjit was arrested 3 months after the blast. One person took all statementsthough these were given in four differentl jurisdictions. There are legitimate doubts about this case.
PTI has used the Ajmal (spelling?) Hanging to get political mileage. So my question stands ( especially after reading article) who here is convinced sarabjit has been correctly found guilty? Who thinks this case is as open and shut case as Ajmal case? Or does it not matter? That it is now Pakistan’s turn to extract its pound of flesh?
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
^ if Sarabjit was convicted AFTER Ajmal Kasab's conviction/hanging then I'd consider that as 'tit for tat show', if he was convicted well before by a court of law then I'll take the verdict to be correct and recommend to proceed with the punishment. Whether PTI brings it up after conviction of Ajmal or not is not an issue for me as I stated that earlier, if Sarabjit was found guilty by courts in past and has exhausted all his appeals then there is no point in delaying the punishment.
Re: India to Pakistan: Show mercy to Sarabjit
I did not imply that Sarabjits conviction was a tit for tat for Ajmal hanging. I stated PTI bringing up Sarabjit case now in the heels of the Ajmal case was a tit for tat. And some here have used the Ajmal case as a frame of reference. Stating what was good for Ajmal should be good for Sarabjit.
From the link you provided, it is clear there were several improprieties. So why would you accept the verdict to be correct? Why not ask for a fair process?
More importantly, considering the well documented improprieties mentioned in the link, why would you want Sarabjit to be put to death ( leaving aside the Ajmal hanging.)
