India to join U.S.-backed gas pipeline project

Re: India to join U.S.-backed gas pipeline project

Man i have been to Jamaica in person. Even though they hardly have any big industry and they are dependent mostly of tourism, an avg. person in jamaica has a much better std. of living compared to india and pakistan, and u would notice it if u go there. If u see their literacy level, infant mortality rate it is much better then ours. Absoulute poverty is much less over there:) .

U will see that countries with better ppp/capita have relatively higher literacy rate, less mal nutrition and better std. of living.

Re: India to join U.S.-backed gas pipeline project

Been there done that!

So using your earlier post, Jamaicans should be jumping up and down that they were able to beat Bharat or Pakistan? Or Trinidad has beaten both Bharat and Pakistan combined?

So on one hand you have countries with $billion budgets, nukie power, and ability to launch missiles and rocket into space.

While the other side is some small islands doing tourist-seva in winter, and drive cabs in NY during summer.

As I said, these figures are just one of the many measures.

or if you want to insist, then next time you see $3400 for Bharat then hang your head in shame that even Jamaicans beat the crap out of you.

atleast we are better off then our friends in pakistan:)

Obviously, we are not beggers :grumpy:
But I do believe that our government is bent on licking the American boots. I believe our government is gonna be in loss in its attempts to align itself with the west and Americans…

Re: India to join U.S.-backed gas pipeline project

That is factually incorrect. It simply underscores the self congratulatory and false Pakistani claims of being in a strategic position. The fact is, as a recent Sino-Indian confrence in Washington D.C. pointed out, it is much more in the ineterest of India to get gas from CAR and Russia via China than via Pakistan. China would be happy to get the transit fees and India would get a more stable supply that does not have to go through any chaotic areas. Moreover, particularly now, Pakistan is offering reduced transit fees, as Musharraf himself pointed out, because India is looking around.
More insterstingly, Pakistani realizes that it's economic lifeline is tied to India. Any gas pipelines that it builds will need a consumer, and the Pakistani economy is not large enough. Indians would much rather pay higher to get gas from China and in the process increase trade and better relations.
Pakistan is in a rut. India is it's economis salvation, and the longer Indian takes, that's hard currency Pakistan looses. That is why Pakistan is making a fuss and cry and why Pakistan is constantly taking about pipelines.
