Agreed, but India is the continental rival in the LR for China. The 2 Asian giants are engaged in a power struggle, be it subtlety as opposed to blatant.
There is no comparasion except the population size... China is US focused while US is using India as a counter balance to China... Plain and simple old game of pit one against the other..
the only competitive military hardware Chinese have is their Missiles...rest all Military hardware is trash...
What about Type 054A, Type 051C, Type 093 & 094, T99, SE2, KJ8, JL3D, SLC4, WS13, J-10, W-8 ? What is it about these that makes them equivalent to 'trash' ? Elaborate please.
Kitty Hawk deal may be just rumors right now. But in the long run, Americans will do their best to extract every cents' worth of benefit from the Indians, Pakistanis, Chinese and other "trading partners".
I doubt America would sell India the Kitty Hawk CVN, even if India offered 3x the price. This is one of the USN's main carrier, filled with technology that only the US possesses, and there is no way it would just give it away and that to, to a country that is best friend's with USA arch-enemy. USA has close relations with the Japanese and ties with the Taiwanese, yet not US carrier in any of their navies. The only thing that the US may be willing to sell is the ship-frame, with most of the technology/systems stripped apart, along with the steam engines.

Other than gifting some much needed money to Uncle Sam, what does India gain by buying these large carriers? Wouldn't more fighters, UAVs and satellites be more useful?

that's a good point. but they'll have to buy from Russians then since Americans won't play that game (at least not for such high profile transactions)
