We inherited irrigation schemes, railways and other infrastructure like ports. So did Pakistan it may not be comparable to India, but sufficient for it’s size. Pakistan too got fertile Punjab. We both got civil adminstration, which India managed not to destroy completely. Both had disproportionate land owning patten.

I was comparing human capital, while the section of under priveledged in India was lot more and the social issues like untouchablity was much greater in India compared to Pakistan. I am not saying India has no problems, I am not saying Naxal issue is non-existent. Compare the Human development Index, India has made a huge progress. There are many factors, starting with Land Reform to Green revolution - affirmative action to active campaigns for women education and population control. These laid the foundation, on which the country can grow.

There is no denying of these. Pakistan can reverse the trend and easily be better than India, the day they realized what is wrong with them. Again, Pakistan has better human capital, but not channeled correctely.

You must take MadScientists advise and do some home work before wasting bandwidth.

In terms of economic resources, India did much better than Pakistan out of partition. It inherited 90% of the subcontinent’s industry and the thriving cities of Delhi, Bombay (now Mumbai) and Calcutta.

As for Pak is worse or better than Indian paradise, I can go over the living conditions of the masses on both side of the border but that would be futile since Indians are known to live in FULL denial.
