India/Pakistan series - Daily Diary

Re: India/Pakistan series - Daily Diary

Lahori Munda's day 4 review:

One more day left in this boring test match and Pakistani bowlers would be hoping for rain to avoid them some undue fatigue. There is really nothing left to play for in this game except perhaps more batting records. Sehwag would be eying a triple century or beyond. This is a good chance for him to overtake Brian Lara’s record. At the rate he is playing he wont need a whole lot of time. Dravid has anchored the innings well and played second fiddle to Sehwag but his contribution was equally as important.

Pakistani bowlers toiled hard for the whole day after a delayed start. Sehwag played majestically for his second double century in successive matches against Pakistan. He was lucky to be still there as a couple of chances were spilled by the Pakistanis and an umpiring decision going I his favor but other then that he played beautifully against every bowler.

Dravid was more conventional in his approach. He is one the best players in world cricket and showed he has the guts as well to bat at any position if the team needs him.

The pitch was pathetic to say the least. I had maintained right from day one, even when Pakistani batsmen were busy piling runs, that it would be very difficult to produce a result on this pitch. The bowlers from both sides have tried initially to get something out of it and then pretty much gave up on it. There is nothing in the pitch and the outfield is lightning quick so you get good money for your shots.

One would hope that we start planning things to our advantage for home series and make lively pitches that would help our bowlers. This match might as well have not been played since apart from batting records it never looked like producing a result.
