^^ Sundial is like an ancient watch. it tells time using the shadow casted by sun.
bigger the sundial more accurate the time. that sundial can tell time with the accurecy of ± 2 seconds.
Back in the days there was a huge bell under that canopy on top of the sundial. after every hour the “watchman” would go up there and ring the bell to announce the time.

other instruments are used to track movements of different planets i guess.

Thanks

Picture of the day:** Hangsheshwari Temple, Bandel, West Bengal

**This temple is dedicated to Mother Hangsheshwari (Goddess Kali) . It was built over a time period of 15 years and finally was completed in 1814-15 by Queen Shankari, wife of Raja Nrishingha Deb. It has 5 storeys and stands 21 meter high.

The architecture is quite distinctive and differs significantly from traditional Bengali design.
