India NZ 2003

630 is New Zealand’s highest ever score in Test Match history - India will now surely try and kill the game off.

As for Virendar Sehwag - he showed his skills at the right moment and shut his critics’ mouth - Go Sehwag Go!

Mr Claivoyant! I couldn’t have said it better

So who was it who said Shewag was a tulleybaaz? Jat da putter is going to make a doubleton today and make his critics eat grass! Oh these armchair critics who don't know what they're saying....smirk.

I haven't seen the match, but when a team scores 600+ runs with the fall of 6 wickets, that is not entertaining.

It gets worse. Tea on 4th day and India is still playing its first innings.

So atleast now will you all take back everything you said and join me in a petition to ban multi-day matches which by design have 70%+ probability of ending in a draw?

They'll probably be still at it on the fifth day tea too! May be the tea could be laced with some scotch

well in india, yes

Just as I was saying how Sachin Tendulkar is failing - he has now surpassed Javed Miandad to become the 5th highest Test Scorer of all time - and is now just 19 runs behind Graham Gooch - he probably will make it past Allan’s record ( which of course will hopefully be Steven’s record by then) due to the sheer amount of Cricket he actually plays.

As for the Test match itself - it’s heading for a draw.

:smokin2:

We have a match on our hands today! Chances of India following on are BRIGHT! Vettori has mesmerised the players - see what happens when Ganguly isn't around to loft the left arm spinners into space?

There is nothing wrong with 5 day matches as long as as both teams play with a possitive attitude. This match is heading for a draw but thats because Newzealand took their time pilling up the runs and India was in no hurry either. Test matches need to be played with a possitive attitude from both teams. The teams display good attitude in ODI's as they know there will be a result and everyone obviously wants to win. In tests there is a probablity of a draw and some teams play for a draw.

In this particular match I think India can not be blamed for playing for a draw. Newzealand wanted to be in the safety zone so they took their time pilling up runs, the only option left for India was to keep batting and keep reducing the lead.

^ and at is too easy for teams playing against mediocre bowling.

Something has to be changed. Something like if a particular run rate wasn't attained the team cannot bat for more than a day

Are you guys serious cricket watchers? Pls tell me how you are so sure that this match is heading for a draw? Did you see the ball turning sharply yesterday? If we lose the remaining 4 wickets by lunch or before make sure to start praying we don't have a Calcutta on our hands!

^ hush and stop jinxing!

I guess you need to start watching carefully. End of fourth day and the second innings is not even completed yet and you are hoping for a result??? Even if India looses all 4 wickets in the first over tomorrow morning, the match will still end up in a draw. Frist of all I highly doubt that India will follow on, they only need 41 runs to avoid that and unless Flemming declare right away to give an even chance there will be no result. Knowing how Newzeland played in the first innings they will probably play a few overs to make sure India cant get to the targert and then declare. By that time Newzeland's bowling which is very mediocre anyways in the absence of Bond will never be able to get the strong India batting line up out.

This match is definetly going to be a draw. You can't expect any other result in one day since there are still 2 innings to be played, in one day (90 overs).

^ I wouldn't underestimate the power of a turning wicket on day 5. 14 wickets under 240 runs in one day is tough but NOT impossible if the ball turns and jumps. We better watch out.

Lahori dear, why don’t you apply for post of chief commentator on espn? Looks like you have it all down pat. Btw I am not ‘hoping’ for a result, I am trying to read the pitch and game unlike you who is predicting a result whithout watching the game! :mocking::flower2:

Tommy - I ain’t jinx malloy, but thanks for talking sense and admitting that the wicket is turning alarmingly- hey wasn’t this pitch supposed to have been relaid and made into a faster one than before? Ulta pulta ho raha hai…

I’d love to see India loose but I think their batting is too strong to loose 14 wickets in one day.

I think they did follow on?
