^ If we had really consistent and effective bowlers, I wouldn't be yelling about 500 on day 2. We have to learn to use what we have to win. And in India's case at present it is batting. We have to really overwhelm the opponent with batting and we can with the giant line up.

Tommy, you are talking as if all the Indian Batsmen were waiting in the Pavilion for their turn. Did you even watch the game ?? 3 of the batsmen who were supposed to score runs were back in the pavilion before we could cross 150. Who do you think would have scored runs fast - Kumble, Zaheer or Balaji (In case Ganguly/Dravid got out trying to score fast) ?
In TESTs - India's Giant line up is a farce, Sehwag is a Tulleybaj, Chopra is a new comer, So is Parthiv Patel. Laxman is highly inconsistent and have problems in crossing 70 runs. Ganguly is failing in test matches - now only 2 of the main batsmen are left, Dravid & Sachin.
It's no use analysing now. If India had won the test Ganguly and Dravid would have been sikander instead of bandar. The real crux was that Kiwis did not go for victory and managed to hold on rather well in the face of some good spin bowling.
The main reason for this draw is BALAJI- he is a dreadful bowler. His off stump deliveries are donkey droppings. When he tries to angle the ball in it whizzes past leg. His bouncers zoom 4 ft over the batsmans head. To top it all he smiles at the batsmen after his follow through like he's showing them saris instead of aggression. Bah humbug!
Tommy - it's more serious than Zaheer converting to Aryanism. He's gone from Geek to Greek!

Zero_one - They could have scored faster and they didn't but we can't hold it against our batting because India was at a very good position at the end of day 2 with NZ 47/3. Indian bowlers failed not the batsmen. India is not Australia, you and I need to understand that.

Yaar Asif ..... i guess u'll agree if i say if ur bowling is weak but ur batting is strong than u've to give more time to ur bowling to win the match for once the batting has done it's job ..... but if this job is not done fast enough than u might secure the match (in case of a sure draw) but to win it ur bowling lacks penetration ..... since during the whole match both teams scored around 2.7 - 2.8 per Over one can calculate how much is needed a team to score to close in and also the calculated figures of Overs gives u an imagination of how to use ur bowlers on a wicket like that ..... It's my opinion after how NZ played in 1st and 2nd. innings that another 40-50 overs could've won India the match provided that had them !!!!
Ususal moaning and complaining from Sorauv - i mean what the hell is wrong with him - can’t he accept the fact that in the end he just couldn’t bowl out the New Zealand side?
Anyhow a bit blow for New Zealand losing Nathan Astle - let’s not forget they are already without Chris Cains and Shane Bond - i guess with those 2 were in the first Test could have been very different.
Asif_k - any updates on A. Nehra? is he going to play in the second Test? India doesn’t have enough bowling attack to bowled out New Zealand side - i can’t expect too much from Harbajan Singh and Anil Kumble.
Talha - It looks like Indian selectors are preserving Nehra for experiments in their search of an Indian Wasim Akram (since he was the closet they could find).
Indian captain Sourav Ganguly will miss the second Test against New Zealand after undergoing minor surgery.
Ganguly had an abscess removed from his thigh in a 25-minute operation on Tuesday and said: “I am in lot of pain and I have no choice but to withdraw.”
Rahul Dravid will take over as captain with Yuvraj Singh set to fill Ganguly’s place in the middle order.
Dravid has previously led the team in two one-day games, plus an unofficial Test in South Africa in 2001.
Ganguly was hampered by injury during the drawn first Test in Ahmedabad but that did not prevent him from scoring an unbeaten century.
And the loss of his leadership skills is a major blow to India’s chances of winning the second match at Mohali.
Ganguly has led them to victory in 13 Tests since taking over the captaincy from Sachin Tendulkar three years ago.
He needs only one more to equal Mohammad Azharuddin’s Indian record of 14 wins as skipper.
Singh’s first Test cap comes after 73 one-day appearances for India, having made his debut as a 19-year-old at the 2000 ICC Knockout tournament in Kenya.
The selectors have kept faith with him despite a miserable spell in English county cricket with Yorkshire this summer, when averaged only 14.5 in first-class matches.
You’re right - I’d be tres tres surprised if Tendlya reaches 280! Well at least he’s managed to make 2 doubles otherwise it woulda been embarrassing to admit the world’s ‘best batsman’ could only manage a runfest, not a serious innings.

Seems like the Mohali pitch is also another dead one.
Another draw on cards.

well it's said the Mohali wicket is the most seamier wicket ** in india ..... so lets see if this wicket + the 22 playing on it are able to get a result beside the from Umair forcasted **DRAW
so the man of the moment Rahul Dravid will take over as skipper? It’s all good
well injuries wise both sides are seriously hampered - it does even things up a bit though now as things were looking more against New Zealand in the First Test as far as lack of full Squads went.
