I don't know what statement you are talking about, but if its not govenments position and only someones individual statement then people have that right in India. In any case, India has to tell its neibours that they cannot conspire against it(for China). It has to make sure that this does not happen, before its too late, as it is already in case of Pakistan. For that if it needs to show its fire power, then it should.
Sri Lanka is an independant country, and who it deals with is its own bussines.
If Sri Lanka values its independance, it should resist any sort of interferance in its internal affairs.
