^ that is an eye opening question for an ardent admirer of Gandhiji such as me.
Mahatma Gandhi would have literally wept at the state of modern day India - particularly about the number of criminals elected to the parliament, about the poverty that still persists after 63 years, about the lack of electricity in so many villages, about the nuclear weapons.
He would also been disgusted with the Indian government for putting up with terrorism in Kashmir and for letting things like Kargil & Mumbai attack occur in the first place. He once said "it is worse to be non-violent by actions but violent inside oneself than to be violent".
India badly needs a real statesman or two - somebody above politics
