By the way, saying that someone is "playing jokes on the nation" (qaum se mazaaq karr rahay hein) is very different than saying that someone is a "joker". Completely different connotations. When paraphrazing a direct (albeit translated) quote, at least display basic integrity. The quote is debatable as it is, and did not need additional mirch masala.

Imran is a known name due to his cricketing successes and most people had high hopes for him to succeed in politics. He has dashed all such hopes with his naiveté.
I do not believe it is an irreversible situation. He will learn a lot from being out of politics for the next 5 years.

Well it's a serious point. At least Imran was entirely consistent with his stance in boycottong the elections, and in fact I respect him for that. Unlike the flip flop, power hungry merchants like BB and Nawaz.

I don't think that "too honest" is the problem here. IK is just a misfit in Pakistani politics. One needs political acumen, connections and the ability to work with many different kinds of people (including those who you don't agree with) to succeed in politics. The only reason we talk about him as much as we do, and completely ignore other similarly failed politicians in Pakistan, is simply because Imran is a known name due to his cricketing successes and most people had high hopes for him to succeed in politics. Yes, Imran has been consistent in his approach. The reason BB and NS have been flip-flopping is becaue they know they that their votebank is not as bg as it used to be. If they boycott the coming elections, then their party will be finished. NS is already history.

Well Nawaz and his brother have not made such a great fuss about being disqualified by the Election Commission, so they must have little or no confidence in their chances. Then again they might be preparing a final flop and unite with the PML Q? So Imran would be well justified in calling him a true joker then.
