I had the opportunity of working for the brother of Pervez Hoodhbuoy a number of years ago and have nothing but respect for the both of them. Both have accomplished technically in their fields and come back to Pakistan to serve their country. In the case of the brother, he founded one of the first electronics/computers companies in Pakistan, and almost exclusively does projects that are for the government/military/hospitals/national industry and push the boundaries of engineering in Pakistan. Hell they were doing a project 10 years ago that Imperial College is doing now.

When I was leaving Pakistan for my masters Mr Hoodhboy urged me not to forget this country, which has given me everything. Figures like the Hoodhboy brothers keep the scientific community in Pakistan alive, and it is out of patriotism. They could have easily crafted a life for themselves in the US (Mr Hoodbhoy the story goes, came back at the request of Bhutto). Instead they came back to Pakistan, and worked for the advancement of the country. I have seen Mr Hoodbhoy’s company almost driven to bankrupcy because of the way government treats private companies, yet he persisted and continues to resist pursuing more lucrative commercial ventures.

Whether or not he is an american agent is ofcourse pretty hard to prove. It is pretty ironic though that the accusation comes from Imran Khan, who himself was accused for years of being a jewish/american agent because of his wife.
