Bhai, Sharif may not have even seen Rs 20 million in 60s, but it is unfortunate that many Pakistanis get confuse with million and lac .. and think that when they want to write 20 lac in English, they should write 20 million .. without knowing that 20 million is not 20 lac, but 200 lac or 2 crore.
As this report is of 60s, it becomes more obvious that person is talking about Rs 20 lac … rather it could be even Rs 20 thousand, as in those days, even 20 lac was tooooooooo much as in 60s, most big bribes were of the order of few hundreds and only some used to reach 4 figures (Rs thousand). … Just imagine, a Toyota Corolla in 1971 used to cost around Rs 20000 (Rs 20 thousand … that means, for 20 million, one could have bought 1000 Toyota cars in 1971 … forget 60s).

I agree with you on this. It is possible that the money was 2 lakhs or 20, 000 as Salim suggests. Rs. 20 millions at that time is equivalent to Rs. 2 billions today and you know lohay ka kabarhia could not have earned such a huge amount in the sixties and giving as bribe his hard earned money as claimed in the story. Even 20, 000 was quite a big amount in those days. But the point is not the quantity of money but the bribing habits of Sharifs which goes back to sixties as obvious from the above report.

Man is dead a long time ago. He was an honest bureaucrat and a decent one belonging to respectful, very talented educated family of Sindh. It was his greatness that he did not hand over senior Sharif to police. Perhaps you don’t know him, he was soft spoken very handsome gentleman. He was my Additional Chief Sectary when I was an officer of Sindh government before joining federal government.

Oh bhai sahab NS is not going to any jail! He is not even being convicted. The way you guys talk about jails is hilarious. You are missing an important step of identifying a crime and proving t. SC proceedings we let clear of one thing which is there is No corruption case here. So forget about adiala or any other jail.
