every time ive tried the image uploader (in the last 2 weeks), the button for selecting files shows up grey (in other words, cant be clicked on), and then my browser freezes/crashes. never had this issue before. (both chrome and firefox)
any idea why?

The upload button is initially gray. It takes a moment or so and becomes clickable.
Please try another browser (Internet Explorer) to see if the same thing occurs. We'll try to help you out.

its updated. and how long is a moment. i gave it 2 full minutes with the same results.

Try go through these and check where u face problem.
the both button (in grey) should be visible. click first (left) button.
Select the location of file(s). The file(s) type should be jpg/jpeg/gif/png and there should be no space between characters like file Name: hell o.jpg it should be hello.jpg
My uploaded file name is s1.png. (as shown in image) and when u trying to upload the file it will show u as in above.
Then click on start uploading files. The uploader will show u the file name + the size or u can say uploading bytes .
The image is still uploading 
the image s1.png successfuly uploaded. click on copy and paste it where u want.

plz make sure there are no spaces or special characters in the filename.
