If you could go back...

i dunno where this fits, but… If you could go back at any time in Pakistan’s history, starting from 1947, which year and which event would you want to be a witness to ? Can be anything political/social or personal, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a historical ‘event’, but it can be just a year that you would want to see what ‘life was like’ in Pakistan in that particular year… say 1965 or something at the height of the Cold War. Or 1950. Anything.

:halo: Yeah it’s a dumb topic.

Hmmmm. Honestly, I'd like to go back to the time (its not really politically defined) when Pakistan won the cricket world cup :D The whole country was euphoric!

1971 Indeed... can't find any unbaised information about the events led to sepration of East Pakistan, me I could learn some lesson from that..... how unfortunate it is that even after 33 years no one in Pakistan is willing to accept the responsibility.. and how conveniently we forgot what we lost, and still not willing to learn anything.

based on comments/feedback from my elders I’d say Ayub era :k:

My great grand parent's family imigrated to South Africa during the British Colonial rule in 1897, some remained behind in Punjab including my Great grand mother. I would wish to see what life was like under the British Raj.. I believe this would also be the year of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.

DHP… question is … after 1947. Tussi kithay lanG gayay?

Me…proly 1965. Interesting time. Would listen to Noor Jahan’s war songs live. :k:

ooopss.. I just noticed nadia stated after 1947.. hehe. ! ok, I would like to see the wonderful steam trains that use to run in Punjab in the 1950's. My father's told me all about that era including Wazirabad station and its history.

probably september 1965. those 17 days from 6 sep to 23 sep, in lahore. the tales of heroism and patriotism that ive heard fom my parents, especially mom since she was a kid in Lahore at the time and my grandfather was in the army, they lived very close to the burki border. i think that was the only time so far after 14 Aug 1947 that our nation was actually united. I'd really like to witness those days when pakistanis, under heavy blackouts at night would gather in streets to witness dog fights under extreme danger of bombings. when civillians armed with sticks and axes marched to the border to defend their motherland from the enemy. when the country's most popular singers (madam Noor Jehan) performed live songs at the country's most important and threatened border; Lahore. when the president visited the front most fighting lines in peron and when men like Major R. A. Bhatti Shaheed Nishan-i-Haider lived and were martyred fighting for this country.
since then we have only gone down hill, be it politics, economics, our civic sense or responibilities, our patriotism, unity, faith or discipline...
