similar to when india orchestrated an acid attack to assassinate a blind pakistani cricketer, GS members seem to be falling over themselves to be offended by this concocted controversy.
in case anyone actually cares, the pakistan women's team was put up in the stadium clubhouse which the players were happy with...but of course that is the same as sleeping in "the grounds". perhaps they were forced to sleep on the wicket? i don't know anything about this particular stadium in cuttack but the brabourne stadium clubhouse is nicer than most five-star hotels. nobody here has any clue about the details that went into deciding accommodations which were also being made last minute due to the change of cities. but everyone knows to be outraged and insulted.

The girls dont seem to be complaining and the facilities look good but still it is not we are know for. This is not a way to treat our guests especially from pakistan.
Few pics where girls are staying.

Ok sorry for my original post!
Thank you India for your generosity for providing accommodation to the team in the Stadium. And yes its pretty normal for the hotels in country's to refuse accommodation to visitors due to the pressure of some bigots.
re: ICC Women’s World Cup: Pakistan women’s team staying in stadium clubhouse
Discrimination against cricketers – The Express Tribune
The Pakistan women’s cricket team’s visit to India for the World Cup has turned into a security and logistical nightmare. First, the team could not go to Mumbai, where its matches were originally scheduled, after the Shiv Sena started issuing its usual threats against visiting Pakistani teams. Now, hotels at the alternative venue of Cuttack and neighbouring city Bhubaneshwar have refused lodging to our players out of fear.
Our cricketers now have to play this all-important tournament under virtual house arrest, with their accommodation being provided at the clubhouse of the stadium in which all their matches will be played. Every other team will be staying in five-star hotels. This discrimination is undoubtedly unfair and puts our team at a significant disadvantage. The team has been conciliatory about its treatment but the International Cricket Council (ICC) should take note of this.
International teams have refused to visit Pakistan over justified security fears. It seems, however, that if we simply put international teams at clubhouses in stadiums and refuse to let them go anywhere else, the security problem would apparently be solved. No country, of course, would accept such conditions to play cricket in Pakistan. Yet, our women cricketers are expected to put up with this in India. Additionally, the final of the tournament is supposed to be held in Mumbai. India needs to explain how our cricketers will be able to stay in Mumbai in the current climate if we reach the final.
The ICC also needs to consider if India should be allowed to hold multi-nation tournaments at a time when it can’t guarantee safety of all players. It is now too late to reschedule the World Cup and our pulling out of the tournament in protest will only heighten tensions. We should make clear that we are only playing under duress and that such conditions are unacceptable if any of our sportspersons tour India again. Instead of appeasing the anti-Pakistan extremists, the Indian government must ensure the safety and comfort of our players.

India bashers at their best.
oh I forgot, it was ICC who put them in the clubhouse.

Let's just hypothetically accept your point as valid:
What caused that "last minute change of cities"? Is that acceptible behaviour for a country hosting a World Cup?
re: ICC Women’s World Cup: Pakistan women’s team staying in stadium clubhouse
The main point is only this can if other teams are staying in five star hotels then why our team is staying in the stadium? Why this discrimination

This is not an isolated incident.
I hold Pakistani officials responsible for this shameless attitude meted out by the Indians to Pakistani teams. If they cant give respect, the least we can do is stop sending teams there to be humiliated.

I agree with you.
re: ICC Women’s World Cup: Pakistan women’s team staying in stadium clubhouse
i didn’t say it was generous. i said it’s strange that many of you seem to be invested in pretending that the team was forced to sleep in a tent on the pitch. this manipulation is unnecessary.
how insane must one be to compare the security situations of international teams playing cricket in india and pakistan.
“security concerns” in india means shiv sena threatening to “disrupt matches” in mumbai and some similar losers “protesting at the airport” in orissa (not randomly but directly in response to an indo-pak military altercation, by the way). this is a joke - there is no threat to the safety of the players. “security concerns” in pakistan means suicide bombers and teams of heavily-armed jihadi terrorists launching a military style assault on players.
let us not equate the two just to project a sense of parity. it’s just silly. in india the threat is troublemakers. in pakistan the threat is trained killers.
some shiv sena guys threatened to disrupt matches in protest over the alleged beheading of an indian soldier in kashmir. the powers that be apparently decided to avoid any controversy and just change the city. of course such things should not happen in countries hosting a world cup but we are talking of south asia and a hostile bilateral environment. further we are talking of the women’s world cup that nobody cares about and was probably planned in 5 minutes.
there are two fundamentally ridiculous ideas being put forth:1) the team was forced to sleep in a stadium and was thus “humiliated”, and 2) there are grave “security concerns” which resulted in the team being holed up and unable to leave. both are patently false.

If India is not capable of handling "some losers protesting at the airport" or unable to control disruption of the match then they should simply not hold the match in that place, is that too hard to comprehend? All hotels refusing to host a team tells you that there is something wrong which you are not accepting for now.

the match was not held in mumbai. either way these are minor issues that have no real security implications unlike real threats elsewhere. yes, i think the statement "all hotels refusing to host a team" is not possible. if a clubhouse did not exist at this stadium do you really think they would not have been at a hotel? also what is "all hotels" - how many suitable hotels do you think are in a small backwards city like cuttack? given that the clubhouse was probably superior to any local hotel, do you think organizers would have called up every hotel needlessly searching for accommodation? and then all of them said no and refused a large sum of money? if there was any request for additional security do you think the organizers might have concluded that it would be easiest at the clubhouse? please think a little more about the logical sequence of events/decisions and likely rationale. also think about whether the details we have at our disposal to analyze are adequate - one article with very little content from unnamed sources and no follow-up coverage of any kind. the problem is that it's easier to be outraged than to think.
re: ICC Women’s World Cup: Pakistan women’s team staying in stadium clubhouse
Here is some coverage by BBC
BBC Sport - Women’s Cricket World Cup: Pakistan team sleeping at stadium
Since the LOC situation happened just two weeks ago, it is reasonable to conclude the threat from the right wing whackos and nutjobs had to be taken seriously. The BCCI did not start off with the position they will house the Pak team in the stadium. With not much time having passed since LOC, it was prudent not to take chances. What would have happened if there was an incident? Then accusations would fly.
It is easy to be an armchair critic and accuse the BCCI of overblowing the threat. Or throw around unnecessary jabs such as " India at its best". As if this has somehow been plotted by the Indian govt. Surely Indian govt would have wanted fair treatment for all teams. The circumstances were unique, just two weeks after LOC incident.
There are some who jump at the first chance to throw jabs at India. Enough.

re: ICC Women’s World Cup: Pakistan women’s team staying in stadium clubhouse
okay, so organizers needlessly placed other teams in inferior hotels but chose to provide superior lodging at the stadium for Pakistani team, thank you for opening my eyes.
