ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Sohail Tanveer is out, OK, but who is Junaid Khan. He has not played any ODI, T20 or Test Cricket for Pakistan yet. Has anyone seen him playing?

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

lol r u serious or it was just a joke.....didnt u see his bowling in last 2 ODI

he bowled 6 overs straight

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

apparently he is quite good and plays regularly for Pak A team. When Aamir was brought into the team it was a close run thing between the two.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

I want to believe that :woho:

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

yeah did you?
....looked like a budha sher...couldn't even field to his own bowling on the returns....completely out of wind becuase he was putting in everything to deliver the bowling - and the after effect was that he couldn't field, couldn't bend or lean over....
pathetic...unless there is spectacular recovery to his fitness, he will prove to be a BOAT ANCHOR rather than the motor....

Afridi eleven departs for World Cup show

.
LAHORE: National cricket team, led by Shahid Khan Afridi, has flown for Bangladesh to partake in cricket World Cup. The mega event is scheduled to kick off on February 19, Geo News reported.

Earlier, Afridi eleven arrived Lahore airport from National Cricket Academy where the boys flew for Bangladesh.

A large number of cricket fans thronged Allama Iqbal airport to see team off in shadow of prays but players did not talk to media on the occasion.

Earlier, skipper Pakistan team Afridi told a press conference that players had developed good winning-combination, which, according to his experience, would help Pakistan in mega event.

He said he was watching Pakistan team competing in semi-final in the mega event, adding that he was satisfied with the performance of his side.

“Pakistani team is capable of wining world cup,” wicket keeper Kamran Akmal said.

The fifteen-member squad include Shahid Afridi (Captain), Misbah-ul-Haq (Vice-Captain), Muhammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal, Younis Khan, Asad Shafiq, Umer Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Abdul Rehman, Saeed Ajmal, Shoaib Akhtar, Umer Gul, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan and Ahmed Shehzad.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

ok I was able to find clips of Junaid bowling. His built is almost identical to Aamir. He hurries a bit in the delivery stride unlike Aamir though. Hopefully he will get a chance and will be able to cement his place…

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

^ Looks good.

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

look so much like Aamer’s or more to say Wasim’s action…wonder if every left hander tries to copy Wasim Akram since he is a legend in Left Arm bowling.

Hope they give him a chance and he can make an impact inshallah!

It would should help heal the wounds from Aamer’s betrayals…

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

I think…Junaid Khan for sure will be tried against minnows… :jhanda:

Re: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011

Yeah every left arm bowler tries to copy the legendary Wasim Akram but still no one can be like him …:jhanda:

Pakistan may prove to be surprise package: Wasim
Downplaying the critics who believe that Pakistan lack in firepower to dazzle at the World Cup, former skipper Wasim Akram believes that if the Shahid Afridi-led side reaches the semifinals, there would be no stopping them.

“Although India, Australia and South Africa are favourites, I also consider Pakistan amongst the top contenders,” Wasim said on Sunday.

“I am very excited and I feel that for around five years Pakistan has not been in as good shape as it is now.

“I feel they would enthrall everyone at the World Cup.

“I think the team is a combination of the best possible lot. Afridi is doing well as a captain and the body language of the players is also very positive. These are the reasons that I feel that they have the potential to claim the title.”

And even though many critics consider England as possible contenders for the title, the legendary pacer feels the other way.

“I don’t see enough potential in England to claim World Cup title,” he said.

Wasim further said that the format of the World Cup is a good one. “It is a good format as every team would play six matches and each team has a chance to recover. From what happened in the 2007 edition, this time around teams like Pakistan and India would get a fair chance to bounce back if they fail to perform in one match.”

He advised the team to stay united and perform and if they manage to win the World Cup then they would always cherish the taste of World Cup victory.
