Re: Ian Chappell: A cure for cricket's cancer
Great idea!! Thats the way the World Cup should always have been played. With 10 teams, it'll take a total of 48 games from start to finish. Every team plays every other team (45 games), the top four go to semifinals (2 games), and then the final (1 game).
48 is still a LOT of games, and 4-5 weeks is a very long time for a tournament. Alternatively, we could divide the teams into two groups of 5 teams each. Each team plays every other team in the group (10 games x 2 = 20). The top 3 teams from each group go to Super Sixes, where they play every other team (15 games). Then the semifinal and final. A total of 38 games.
Good idea. but after super six they should just have final between top 2 teams. Final should be best of 3 to eliminate fluke
