but now i got this plane phobia.......i spend my journey on a plane in praying all the time.......i think child birth make women coward..........as i dont go on rides either.

Yikes! Whats the first thing that came on ur mind when the chopper was going down? Is this it God? congrats on surviving and making it back alive.

First thing was checking my seat belt and the life vest. And yes for a sec I thought this is it.

Yikes…but it’s good to hear that the plot/saftey features did the trick…Was it a free fall, or was there still lift being generated by the rotors?

As long as the rotors are turning you never go into free fall.

Amazing experience of survival.Allah ne hifz o ama mein rakha. :). Everybody was fine too?
HOw long did u guys have to be in water before the rescue…and an amazing job done by the pilot.
My father had a plane crash early in his career when the engine stopped in the cessna that he was flying. He basically glided the plane trying to bypass the human population, but where they did finally crash…amazingly the plane came down in such a way that both the wings were on two homes, and they survived.

jeez LB your one lucky guy! there was a heli crash a week or so ago in the uk and it made think about the chances of survival when something goes wrong up there. i didnt know they could come down level.

Everybody is fine. You have more chances of survival if you are on water.

Yesterday while I was traveling in a helicopter which crashed in the sea. That was closest call yet.

The main rotor failed and the chopper started going down from 1500 ft. Thanks God all the choppers we use have a safety future of inflatable skids which inflates when comes in contact with water. The good thing is the pilot was able to bring it down straight instead of at an angle, the CG was good and the chopper safely balanced on the skids. We were picked up by the Iranian coast gaurd within 1 hour and now today I am back home after 5 days.

Well just another day at work.

Well, it was really nice to hear that all went well with you. Waisay, it is Allah that keeps a person safe, still it is our duty to do as much as we can and try to be safe. Oil rig jobs are normally quite dangerous. Look after yourself and do not take undue risks.

I was traumatised but nothing serious. eh. nothing that old chivas cannot fix.

I agree Oil patch is a dangerous place to be but I take it as an occupational hazard.

Actually that will be a funny situation. Bad boy making fun of munkir nakir. Lajjoo you missed the part some months back where I have shifted my position 100% against to 50-50, Now it's leaning towards 60-40 in favor. I might reach there someday but I will take my time, and on my own conditions.

Happy to hear you are safe and your family must have been pretty shaken up hearing your experience. What do you think you will feel as you are airborne the next time...or have you already flown since?

The best thing to do to prevent any phobia is to actually fly as soon as possible after the experience...altho you dont seem like you will develop any phobias!!
