I recommend buying two for the sake of energy conservation, a small one when you need to toast two toasts and one bigger where in you can bake a pizza or rotisserie a chicken if you like.
I agree, most toaster over are useless, so get one of em 4 slice toasters, and then get a mid size combo toaster oven/ convection oven etc.

I personally don't like using a toaster oven for toasting bread. Even a $10 toaster is better for toasting bread than a toaster oven.
As for toaster oven, my mom even dums biryani in the large toaster oven - so a good/large toaster oven can be pretty useful.
