"I identify as black"

Re: “I identify as black”

Let me make a final attempt to deliver the message that I’ve been trying to:

On “Living as Black”

I have nowhere suggested that I am “outraged” at her decision to live her life as a black person. I’ve questioned how one does that, but if you were not able to decipher the sarcasm in that post then let me tell you: it was sarcasm. I have disagreed that a white person can effectively live as black without having “experienced” the challenges the African American community historically faced but that is my opinion and not outraged at Dolezal’s efforts to try. I ended the same post by saying:

“I don’t really have a problem with how she wants to live…as long as she does it without taking advantage of anyone else.”

On Deception

I believe that she lied on government forms. Something that is immoral, unethical and just plain wrong. I stand by that position even now because this action of her’s has the potential to tread on the rights of other deserving individuals.

This:

On Parents

I don’t know how her parents ended up speaking with the media (nor do I have the inclination to explore this) so I have tempered my comments on the matter. It goes without saying that the family likely suffered from several dysfunctional qualities so to expect normalcy/rational behaviour from any of them is an unreasonable expectation by my standards.

If they took the initiative and approached the media then that’s sad and I agree that they should have kept to themselves and moved on with their lives rather than take what could be viewed as a vindictive step to hurt her.

If they were approached by the media to comment on the matter of her dishonesty then I’m glad that they stuck to the truth rather than lie to support her lie.

Again…the above is my opinion.
You are welcome to yours’ of course.

(Perhaps another discussion is this: Can you call someone that is operating without a full deck “scum” because technically they are operating at a complete disadvantage and don’t have the ability to adequately reason otherwise that would mean they do have a full deck. :cb:)

Wow. So now we can pretend to be black cos we have “8 years of REAL experience”? Wtf? Do genetics count for nothing in the world now? FFS ppl… Eminem grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood. He has more of a “right” to be black than anyone else… is he though?? Aside from lying on gvmt forms etc… there are lifetimes of experiences/emotions that she’s pretty much **** on for her “identity”. Yes, she can relate to their struggle.. when i see the crap ton of articles and news snippets on the struggle African-Americans go through, i can sympathize. I feel it too on some level. Does that make me black? No. Should others call me black? No!

I’m shocked that ppl are actually defending her. Her doing good in the world is a separate thing.. it doesn’t erase what she’s done. Doing good is a basic act every human should strive for. Why is it “special” in her case? Michael Jackson did loads of good… he had a skin disease, yet ppl STILL ride him for “trying to be white”. But it’s ok for her?!

Also… where do u draw the line then? Will there be ppl soon who identify as dolphins? Sorry… i like swimming, making funny noises and being social… i’m a dolphin, eff what my genetics/DNA say.

Ps - not trying to offend anyone.. just don’t agree with lady’s actions

Re: “I identify as black”

Right now I am not operating on a full deck. When I get home I will provide u examples of how folks DO NOT accept this black life thingy. And have expressed outrage about it. I think you have too. Stay tuned to this channel. Don’t go anywhere.

Re: “I identify as black”

Exhibit A - the post u responded to. 0.501 deck.

Re: “I identify as black”

@Muzna

In response to ur question why couldn’t she be black without lying I offer the following exhibits for starters

Post 3- this is a joke. She has no idea what black people went thru…
Post 5 Even if she is adopted by blacks she could not identify as black…

Post 6. She lost my sympathy when she claimed an ancestry and history that is not hers
Post 10
Post 11
Post 14
Post 29. She is making a mockery of..

I hope I answered ur question - answer is. No. She couldn’t have lived a black life without lying. You are not ready for it. Other posters here arent. Several others arent.

More exhibits haven’t been investigated.

Re: “I identify as black”

Southie, your black’s!

Re: “I identify as black”

Sorry Southie…I am really trying hard to understand your train of thought here…but I just don’t get it.

I don’t speak for everyone but I have already clarified that I have no objections to her “living as black” if that refers to her lifestyle, her opinions and her choices as long as those don’t impact negatively on the privileges made available to African Americans or any other minority, for that matter.

Whether or not I “approve” of her decision to “live as black” or whether or not I sympathize with or respect her should be irrelevant to her if she is truly committed. My opinion may represent some portion of society but it is simply that, an opinion, and in no way does anyone’s opinion inhibit her ability to live as she wishes.

If you are suggesting that she faces challenges with social acceptance, then I’m afraid that’s a path that many people (LGBT community as an example) live with.

This does not give them the freedom to make false statements on legal documents. That’s the only point on which I cannot back down.

lol!!!

Re: “I identify as black”

My memory by now has become a bit hazy on all the details. Re the last sentence, that is kind of circular logic. The reason she had to lie was because without doing that she could not live as black. So she had no option.

It is good you are saying you have no objections to her living as black. I thought in the earlier posts several - possibly including you - raised objections. If you weren’t one of the objectirs, I (literally) stand corrected.

For additional clarification, I call on our Head of Racial Affairs, Ethan Hunt, to chime in.

Re: “I identify as black”

I thought you were grounded, chapter 2.

Re: “I identify as black”

No it isn’t the same! :biggthumb:

Re: “I identify as black”

Don’t celebrate, chapter 2. You are still grounded.

Re: “I identify as black”

How is expecting someone to abide by the law, particularly one that does not hinder your freedom to live as you please, circular logic?
You have not proven how she could not “live as black” without lying on the legal document. Just by repeating this statement does not make it accurate.

This is likely the third time that I’m saying I have no objections to her living as black.
If that’s how many times something must be said for it to sink in for you my friend…

You can call on whomever you want…head of racial affairs or head of the “help I can’t prove my point with facts or logic” brigade…not gonna change my position on this one.

Re: “I identify as black”

Are you looking at the mirror re “can’t prove my points with facts or logic”. Or do you just change positions as the wind changes directions?

Re: “I identify as black”

Where did I change positions?
I’m not the one calling for anyone to “chime in”.

Re: “I identify as black”

Please go through the exhibits I provided.

Let the chiming in part go, will ya. Lighten up a bit.

Re: “I identify as black”
