ROFL @ fraudia’s first reply… i was gonna say the same things
Paxtani Mentality,
There are two points here. There are things that the Prophet did that are specific to him and if we were to do it, we would be committing haraam. An example is marriage, a Muslim is only allowed 4 wives yet the prophet was allowed more than 4. If we were to follow this we would be sinful.
We should try to emulate the prophet as he is the best of creation and we follow his hadeeth as that he had revelation. However he also had personal preference for example in the clothes he wore, whether he slept on his stomach or his back, what perfumes he liked etc. The clothes for example were simply part of civilisation at the time.
The prophet is the best of creation
and we should try and emulate him as much as possible but there are actions which aren't rewardable and sometimes haraam for us.

and please refer to the whole haqooq Allah vs. haqooq al ibaad topic.
thsi is not to say that haqooq Allah should not be fulfilled, but it is to say that too many of us completely ignore haqooq al ibaad.
as far as what is in a person's heart i surely cant tell, but when u know that someone who says Allah Allah all the time yet acts in a way that totally is against the essence of islam then whats the use?
I am taking this a step beyond this poem...being a msulim isn name is not enough, true, but then being a muslim in "looks" is not enough either, and way too many people are stuck on that**

Asalaam O Alaikum Br. Fraudia,
Each and every muslim is nothing but a human being. No one is perfect in this world. The one who was perfect isnt among us anymore. He left his Sunnah behind so that we follow his footsteps as precisely as we can.
Each and every muslim is at different level of faith. No one is equal. If a person is trying to preach islam which he doesnt do himself, it is ok. I didnt say that..there is a hadith too. (cant recall the exact hadith!) You can not discourage a person from doing a good deed, keeping in mind that with the help of Allah, he might just start walking on right path.
Dont discourage ppl from saying Allah Allah each and every sentense of theirs. YOU aint the judge..let Allah be the judge. Your job is to keep YOUR imaan in check and not judge or question other ppl's deeds. NEVER discourage a person from doing a good deed...whether it be just saying ALLAH ALLAH 24/7. Who knows, Allah might like that person's deeds better then yours??? ALLAH UL ALAM. My point is...do not discourage ppl from doing good deed.
So far whatever replies u have posted..you had done nothing but make jokes of the articles (or poems) you have critisized each and everything that has been posted. MAy Allah show u the right path. NONE of us here is an ALAM. (well..maybe some are i donno) Every one of us is striving to preach islam and then try to follow it ourselves. So dont discourage it...encourage it. Althuogh you have every right to correct ppl...but there is a way of doing that. Prophet Muhammad (saw) never criticised anyone. Or told off anyone when they werent practicising islam to the best. He did it in a very polite manner. In a very nice way...maybe we should try to adopt His ways of dealing with disagreements.
"Ethics of Disagreements". Thats what we need to learn and keep in mind, each and every time we discuss islam.
Qaswa
I am in complete agreement with what you have said. My point was that many of these poems and articles talk about physical apperances and all and rarely get into anything deeper.
you made an issue of my point about people who say Allah Allah all the time but dont follow the religion as it should be. I am not discouraging anyone from saying that, I ams aying with apperances must come actions, with actions must come faith and sincerity and efforts to be a good person a good human being, that is what Allah asks us, sadly many do not do that.
agreed that i dont know who is better. I am not the judge, only Allah is. By the same token the type of person depicted in the poem could be preferred too, based on one good act they did that Allah liked.
and by your definition, I am doing a good deed too, I am telling people to do more than just look the part, but to strive to be a good muslim in actions and sincerity. You may not like my approach just as I dont like the approach of this poem.
And I have not just made jokes of the articles or poems, I have a certain style, and if you really think about it, I left many points for others to think about. myself included.
