When I was in Paki taking BCom exam I would study the night before. But in the US it was easy, just attend all the classes (and pay attention) and do ur homework, and I never had to really study before mid-terms or finals. Just go over ur notes and ur good to go. During my CPA exams I did isolate myself in a hotel room for a week to "rattafy" stuff though.
How to prepare for exams?
Never take too light nor serious. :)
Metallica, Megadeath, AC/DC, Aerosmith. That is how is i study/studied for my exams. Need something heavy and i am out to the world. I usually crammed a couple of days/hours before.
I am a major procastinator!!! I study like the night before the exam, if I didn't do that I could probably do much better, but it is like a permanent habit that doesn't want to wear away!!! When I do study last minute I look over my highlighted materials, and read my text again even if I read it before and summarize it in a set of notes. Can't study were there are any distractions even if its visitors, I could study with a group which makes it faster and easier but only in a serious group not with any close friends who'd rather just talk!
i'm not good when it comes to learning things by heart quickly....when we get such a test i have to being early, and get a good preparation. of course the advantage is that i usually remember things years after the exam, where other ppl forget it when they step outside the exam room.
secondly, make sure u understand everything, and have a good grip on the subject matter from the start.
X-com: when it comes to learning by heart (anatomy), take my first advice.....that's how it works for me: I got a good long term memory........just don't find it good when u learn something quickly and u forget it the next day after the exam
