We all encounter them during our lives.

When you hear something, do you believe in it right away or you first do a research to see whether there is any truth in the rumour?

How do you feel if you hear a rumour about yourself which in no way is closed to the truth?

If the rumour you hear about yourself is reflective of the sickened mind that spreaded it, what steps would you take to do a damage control or to rectify the issue? Ignoring is one passive way but it can only used at some points but should there be any specific methodology to encounter the false news that spreads like the fire in the woods.
