Why worry about the root cause , people will die before beemariyaa sheemariya hits them. :D
The reason why you would only live till 40 is because your cellular structure would degenerate at faster rate, which means that you will get Burhaapa, only that it will hit you earlier.
Life would be easier.
Not much to plan for.
I am sure when people realized that they could only live for 80 years most , as oppose to 150 years (as some old stories tell), they said the same thing
I started a similar thread once. But I want you to describe a world if Humans could only live up to 40 years of age. What would be different in that world than the one we see now? Think outside the box and share maybe one or 2 diff per post
That was life 2000 years ago. People died from sickness or combat, and only lived to about their 40s.
Thus, there would be no concept of higher education, and people would get married in their teens.
^ Higher education is part of evolution as higher education requires centuries worth of background research. it has little to do with age expectancy as age expectancy of one generation does not count, but collective effort of many generation counts in educational advances.
I would say that since death is closer people would be more spiritual and conscious of death, as a result knowingly or unknowingly have more babies and increase their means of passing knowledge effectively down the generations through poetry, song and other oral traditions ... make language more efficient, have less holidays, retire later in life (by proportion of life) and become self-sufficient earlier in life by proportion ...
And Southie ... I can't see any correlation between gestation period and life expectancy in other animals so there is no reason to believe that the nominal 9 months should be affected.
Southie, I agree with Psyah. Life expectancy is not going to change that. If you look at the chart below, you see that avg life expectancy even today, in Mozambique is 40 years. That does not mean that kids in Mozambique are born after 4.5 months instead of regular 9.
I haven't read all the posts, so I don't know if this idea has already been mentioned.
If we only lived up to the age of 40, would the younger age of leaders (of countries) cause more problems in the world? As in the naivete of youth. Or perhaps it could go the other way too...where if career/marriage are taking place earlier...then people are maturing faster? Leaders of nations would have to be replaced faster...and I guess the frequent transtions could bring about instability. Just a thought.
Re: How the world would be : if Human could only live up to 40 years of age
With people living shorter, there will be fresh ideas as old is continuously replaced by new. Similar to having term limits for Congressmen/women, or limited years for Supreme court justices (long overdue)
Re: How the world would be : if Human could only live up to 40 years of age
Life is already too short and unpredictable. 40 years is too short.
seems like life on a rollercoaster, more mechanical, less time to reflect and learn from experiences. Less wisdom in this world. I think you guys know the difference between intelligence and wisdom

Maybe it would be opposite. when people realize that life is short and they have very little time with their love ones, they would bond more, hence more compassion, more love, less hate crimes (hey my intended victim is going to die anyways in few years so why to break the law and murder him)
