Catty, most guys would love a Namazi girl, especially my peer fobs, even if they themselves aren't namazi. Its for the same reason they have girl friends through college but often end up getting married to a shareef naik gharanay ki larki back home.
Just being namazi doesn't automatically make someone the best match.
It depends upon where your priorities lie and how you intend to judge morality of a potential spouse. I dont think namaaz reading is much of an indicator - but I think asking doesnt do any harm.
Lajjo and ashtray, you guys didnt read the fine print. I said 'provided that person intends to pick up that habit soon'.
Nobody is perfect and we might not have all the required habits of being a muslim right now (due to our different upbringings) but that doesnt necessarily make us a bad person.
Some people dont pray and they dont give a whack about it. Other people dont pray but subconsciously they feel guilty and they know they have to start praying sooner or later. I think it is easy to tell which ones would be more religious.
Lajawab by your theory i can take all your arguments and throw them in the garbage bin if (for example's sake) you have ever in your life paid even 1 cent of interest on a credit card. Because interest is haraam and obviously someone who has done so, what position is he in to even raise a single issue regarding Islam?? (sorry for veering off topic).
Too many ppl these days just pray but don't follow the other tenants of islam. SO just cuz a guy prays 5 times a day doesnt mean he'll treat his woman right.
I try to pray 5 times a day but it so does not mean that I am a good Muslim Prayer just gives you consciousness of what is right and wrong. The decision is still yours as to what steps you take. So don’t just go on the namazi factor and say “haan re haan re” to a rishta.
Well I don't know anybody, but I know myself, I used to be a regular namazi, and I was very much into the research of Islam, I was os much into the religion that my philosophy teacher used to say I don't want to convince mr. Gola Gunda since he always turns the topic to the Islamic philosophy, but the worst of time came to my soul, I stopped visiting to the religion forum at GS, stopped discussing religion anywhere, my namaz remained only to the Jumma prayers. I even came to the line that, 'I don't call myself a Muslim, but my believes are close to Islam only'.
But, I never left the hope, that one day, I will return to my peak of religious thoughts as I was in earlier years. I don't know when the day really arrives, I pray I get it before my death.
It all seemed confusing at times perhaps incomplete. How so much stress was laid on the namaz and how some of the other things were "left out". Untill i found out that it was always there and i just never knew about it... So keeping it very short and simple...
The scheme of life which Islam envisions consists of a set of rights and obligations. Broadly speaking, the law of Islam imposes four kinds of rights and obligations on every muslim.
The rights of God upon man;
The Rights of One's Own Self
The Rights of Others
The Rights of All Creatures
Rights of God upon man are that
1 Proclaiming sahadah (la ilaha illallah)
2 Salah / Namaz / Prayers
3 Fasting
4 Zakat
5 Haj
So Namaz is just one of the thing among the rights of God. As a muslim one needs to work on all the four.
How namazi r u?
My dad said that to me, that he wants a guy who prays atleast five times a day and i asked him to look at his daughter first, it worked!
