How much

Re: How much

Damn. I just got a footscrub, so that is basically my manicure - the tube is huge and should last for a year, and it cost be about 4 bucks.

I have perfumes, but I've made sure those were gifts. So I spent zero on perfumes.

I have lotions, but I bought like one bottle that I intend to last out the year - 4 bucks from bath and body

A 4 or 5 dollar stretch mark cream that will also last out for the whole year... maybe even two - its bothersome to put it on every night.

Lipsticks that I've had for like 4 or 5 years now, that are still running - I just don't wear that much make up - two I got for free when my mom bought something for estee lauder. Another I bought which came with various other free gifts. And a whole stack of avon lipsticks that cost me about 3 dollars each that I have been gathering for the past 8 years, and they're still lasting.

Lipgloss - also gifted from Pakistan.

Eyepencils/lipliners - gifted from Pakistan.

Underarm deoderant - i usually buy those value packs where you get two for a decent price - def. under 5 dollars.

A face cream that I use that I got on discount at Sally's for like 4 dollars. Also a cleanser that was discounted with that - also roughly 4 dollars...

A face scrub that I love to use - also like 3 or 4 dollars from sally's.

Soaps - i use like one of those huge arse bottles of body wash from oil of olay or dove or something - its like 6 bucks a bottle, and it lasts for well over a year for me.

Shampoo - biolage - only thing i spend a lot of money on - for 25 dollars or so, i get the conditioner and shampoo. Lasts the whole year.

As for clothes - I've been wearing the same clothes for the past 2-3 years roughly.

Man, you ladies spend WAY too much per month of crap like this.

Re: How much

When i was in high school, I wore a uniform so i did not have much need for any clothes, and I wasn't allowed to wear makeup either (first by school, thenb parents) so I spent a lot on book sn stuff... it's only since i started college that i've been spending $$ on hair, clothes n makeup n frankly, I like it :D In fact, I read an article in Glamour magazine once that said even during the worst economic times, women are still willing to spend some money on beauty products because it makes them feel good. Not necessarily, spending $200 a month, but even a lil bit is nice... my mom refused to buy anything for herself anymore, she used to buy expensive cosmetics 1ce a month but since my dad left, she feels bad even about a lipstick.. I feel bad but she wont' do anything :(

Re: How much

PCG, everything makes sense except i don’t get it how a bottle of shampoo can last you a year???

Hubby and I use different shampoos so i buy shampoo for us every 3 months.

Re: How much

In a month? I just bought shampoo and conditioner today on sale 2 for $6. Other than that I only buy some groceries. I don't get my haircut, manicures, pedicures, never had a facial before. I don't shop either. So I think i rarely spend more than $10-$20 on myself a month. Everything pretty much goes to the kids and groceries and bills, then there's nothing left.

Re: How much

2 for $6 for shampoo sounds like a great deal.

Unfortunately, I’m a spendthirft. I often spend more than I make and I have to withdraw from my savings to make up the difference. I tend to spend a lot on food and technological stuff. Other than that, I’d usually get whatever I like or need. It could range from clothes to skin care products to random grocery items that interest me.

I love to spend on myself and my family. I have to learn to spend within limits and try to save a few dollars every month.

Re: How much

I've worked since I was 14, except for now since I have kids. Even then money was something I had to save to pay for school. It was really stressed in my family to not waste money. It was to the point where I felt great guilt if I bought something. Now that I'm married I feel like I can't waste 'my husband's money', even though it's our money. But I still feel like I don't deserve any of it. I don't like money actually. I think I hate it. I walk into a store and I just see all this stuff. I feel like I'm being choked by materialism. i can't explain that feeling. I literally feel ill looking at all this stuff that people endlessly consume. I think I'm ready to throw away all my material posessions, tie a sheet around myself and live in the mountains somewhere.

Re: How much

I used to spend a lot on children's clothes during sales times. Now less, I have too many bills at the moment, for my studies, separate bills for my upcoming exams (oh boy, I really should get off internet and seriously start preparing for those!), bills for my computer which I pay off monthly... and after the gass/water/electricityetc. are paid, I just have enough for groceries nowadays and sometimes a little extra.

So at the moment, I just buy the necesary stuff. Every few months I clean out the closets of thekids, I count what we have so I won't buy anything unnecesary, heehee! ;-) Sales prices are hard to resist, so I have to be very strict!

For the rest I just spend some money on nivea, shampoos and shower gels, deodorant. And of course the tooth brushes and pastes every two or three months. Every now and then I buy an extra item for my appartment or something fun for the kids.

That's it right now. Next year I'm finally finished with at least paying off my study, insha Allah, finally I will have a little more money to spend. :-D I can't waite till next year!

Re: How much

Saima…I can sooooo relate to you!!

Re: How much

Re: How much

$40 gets the job done fo me...:biggthumb

Re: How much

Mahru, its a real big arse bottle of shampoo! And I only use like a dimesize amount each time I was my hair - my hair is really short.

Re: How much

^^ Oh okay, makes sense now:)

Re: How much

On a monthly basis, i get my eyebrows done ( comes out to be $10), any other waxing just gets done at home. I buy clothes here and there but there is no usual pattern, other than that i am the person that very rarely buys make-up or even facial products. My hair is what I am trying to grow, compared to some girls I have met who spend $200-300 every 4 months or so just on hair.

Re: How much

^ what wax do u use?

Re: How much

My hubs and I are still using the same shampoo that we purcahsed more than a year ago… I guess we don’t use a lot of it

Re: How much

Wow, some of you spend a lot of money! Last month I think I spent less than $10 on myself. Typically I only spend on myself if I need something.

Re: How much

i spend too much n i dont keep track of it either :bummer:

Re: How much

I forgot to add this: I do my own facials/manicures/pedicures so I don't have to spend money at a parlour. I think I have gone to a parlour only once and that was the first time I got my eyebrows done. After that, I maintained them at home. I just like trimming my hair, don't like any particular hairstyle, so I get a family member to do that since it seems like a waste of money to pay someone $20 just to trim off an inch every other month or so.
