Re: How much should I ask for stitching charges?
In Chicago most good tailors charge $35-40 for a simple shalwar kameez and $35+ for stitching a sari blouse.

I have a lot of unstitched suits I got on my wedding from relatives, inlaws, etc.. a few of them were stitched by my aunt in Canada but I would rather have them stitched by you when you're in NY (Im in CT) rather than bugging my poor aunt. She's awesome at it though. We have one tailor here who I know of and she charges THIRTY for a blouse, can you believe it? She does a good job though but that's just too expensive. For stitching sarees, I have paid alot in NY at Karishma where I buy them from.. they do a great job.. but again, they are really overpriced.
Wow 30 $... thats probably more than the fabric itself costs... Im in Indiana right now, and I can stitch them here too. If you send me the fabric I can get them done for you. Im going to be making a fill in sheet for customers to put specific requirements. The form will have general sketch draft pictures of diffferent styles that I can do and types of sleeves you want etc. Also if you want a particular style in stitching that you have in a blouse or a salwar kameez that a designer has made then you can send that along with the fabric and I can use it as a pattern and do it exactly like that one. :)

What are other things that you guys would want to see and get service from a person creating your clothing?
Re: How much should I ask for stitching charges?
Um...500 ruppees is pretty standard among seamstresses in Karachi. Now if you go to a darzi, they might want more - not sure. Plenty of poor labor-family ladies in Karachi looking for stitching jobs, and they'll do it for 500 ruppees...which is what? under 10 bucks?

Pictures.
Good quality work.
Being easily accessible by phone/email is a plus point.

I couldn't believe it when some aunty told me recently she paid tailors in Karachi 500 for stitching clothes. Last time I was there 4 years ago, it was 250 and even that seemed so much for those living there. Dang.
Re: How much should I ask for stitching charges?
^ In karachi I was told saree stitching is about 1000 rs, any truth to that?
Re: How much should I ask for stitching charges?
Salaams
Can you tell me if you are still in the NY area and still sewing Salwar Kameez's? Thank you!!!!
As salaamu aleykum wa rahmetuhAllaahi wa barakaatuh.
Do you guys think that 20$ is pretty fair for stitching for a whole salwar kameez? [with custom everything, from yolk designs, to sleeve lengths, etc][seeing that the customer provides their own fabric]
What about stitching sari blouses? How much is it norm to pay for those for stitching?
PS: assuming that my work is good and decent.
