How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

The fact is ,he is a talented spinner with all sort deliveries .But couldn't get his length right . Experimenting too much .Also least supprt from the wicket keeper which will affect a bowlers especially spinner's confidence .A very good wicket keeper is a must for a spinner to succed . Here DK is unlucky in that aspect as well.Akmal dropped almost every bowler's chances but Kaneria was the biggest victim of all .Thats not an excuse. still....

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

Saleem: I am not prejudiced against Kaneria. I am mainly criticising his performance over the past two years **which is clearly below par for an international spinner.** I accept that his overall performance in tests is very good. He probably needs a short break from test cricket so he can work on and iron out certain weaknesses. The team for instance could do without Kaneria's leg side long hops which are all too frequent these days and which got spanked all around the park by the Indian batsmen. We should give other promising spinners like Amjad a chance as well so we have more options in our selection pool. That will only encourage healthy competition among players for places in the team. No one is indispensable and noone should take their place in the team for granted. I believe even Kumble and Harbhajan were dropped by India for a while in the past when they were not performing.

Likewise even though Akhtar is without doubt our best match-winner, since he is so injury prone we must start looking for a genuine replacement for him now and not when he is finally finished as a bowler in a couple of year's time.

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

second innings: day 4 pitch which IS keeping low and bounce is very uneven, some balls do shoot up out of nowhere. Indian openers are 2 down early and look at kaneria's figures:

8-0-30-0

bravo!!!!!!

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

nothing worse than what Kumble and Harbhajan did, combined.

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria “develop” into a world class bowler

but they had some performances in previuos tests, no??

what did Kaneria have, mystery balls? :hehe:

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

itni garmi sahi nahi saby saab.

look who has most wickets in the series so far.

kumble 13, kaneria 11, harbhajan 10

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

yeah look how many top order wickets each have? and average too?

garmi nahi bhayee, he has been totally disappointing. :)

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

Don't mind Sa1eem but I don't know how many hours you spent on proving Danish's worth. Didn't utter a word for impressive run of Misbah. I don't want to say but some regional cricket favouritism is visible and I say the same thing when PCB stuck into musical chair between below par Farhat, Butt, Nazir and Hafeez. Its like other 'don't even bother looking' attitudes towards other openers in other regions.

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

pathetic. it is because of people like you that pakistan remains divided. jab saleem ne tumhari bolti bund kerdi tou apni panjoo giri pe utar aye. lanat

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

A batsman trying to save his wicket for taking risk at a later stage of the game cannot be compared with a bowler striking in later overs IMO.

It could be that Kaneria can use ball of certain age/overs to get maximum results for the team but captain forces him to use relatively newer ball trying to get maximum out of him.

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

maybe because they were playing pakistani top order. :)

saby saab, i don't consider him to be murli or warne but lets not stay away from facts. pakistan went into the test match against india in india with four bowlers, one of them was a spinner. in any test, there has to be atleast 5 bowlers and one all rounder. with shoaib not bowling whole lot of overs, it is easy to predict the bowler on a batting wicket.

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria “develop” into a world class bowler

Stats DO NOT lie!

Pakistan in India 2007

**Kaneria **12 wickets @ 52.33, SR 87.5

Harbhajan 10 wickets @ 44.10, SR 91.7

Kumble 18 wickets @ 26.50, SR 59.5

and our old friend
Mohammad Sami 4 wickets @ 118.75, SR 183 :o

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

The last word must have been said while looking in the mirror. I don't have to, but just for your kind information I am from Karachi myself and from a Urdu speaking family (many of Guppies know me personally). In the same post I am taking about PCB's condemnable favourtism for openers from one region. But, you couldn't find 'balance' in the post. It is biased ppl in Karachi and Lahore who have made politics, cricket and hockey a hell. I am against all kind of racism and favouritism, regardless of who is doing it, it's opium.

This is simple, for me, a person spending couple of hours to collect this much stats to prove worth of a mediocre bowler and comparing him with the likes of Qadir etc, is something else other than being a fan.

Re: How much longer do we let Kaneria "develop" into a world class bowler

Kaneria's time is up. I would rather have Afridi in the test side for his leg spinners (and he also gives us a valuable batting option and exceptional fielding) than him at this point in time.
