Not really. MBQ was only an adventurer who wanted to conquer and loot Sindh. People have very wrong notion that MBQ brought Islam to Sindh, though Islam was in practice long before invaders like MBQ.

But I agree that this whole story of Hujjaj sending bin Qasim to help a woman in Dahir's custody is false. Dahir actually had given shelter to some Muslims who had been oppressed and persecuted by Hujjaj. One example of such oppressed people coming to Sindh is Abdullah Shah Ghazi's tomb at Clifton beach.
I should also say that Qasim was just following Hujjaj's orders. It was Hujjaj who is the real villain in this story. Bin Qasim himself was a kind man whom people of Sindh actually liked.

Bin Qasim was indeed an illiterate bigot and a lootera. Actually history has been written to praise the victor and defame the defeated in all possible ways so as to justify the conquest. He belonged to the trecherous nomadic tribal man. By his victory over Raja Dahir, he decimated a big and refined culture of the natives of Sindh. He killed, maimed, raped and plundered mercilessly in the name of Islam. He forcibly converted a vast population from sindh to kashmir into Islam. Thousands were enslaved and a culture which had philosophy, literature and arts was decimated. A strange nomadic culture of Arabs was imposed. The irony is that the descendents of those persecuted are trying to justify the conquests of Bin Qasim.

You are not to be blamed its the historical version taught in this country which makes invaders like qasim and gauri as heroes. May be this a politico religious compulsion of the rulers but teaching falsehood to whole generation has consequences like the rise of talibans. Can you tell who gave divine right to a bigot like Bin Qasim to invade peacefully living populace of Sindh and then butcher them all in the name of Islam. What were his intentions? To loot, plunder, usurp ..but for what. Then we justify him every now and then, thinking that this is our religious duty. Can't we have the courage to falsify a great untruth.

Taliban are today's Raja Dahir. They are persecuting Muslim women in Swat and other areas. Muslim women and girls are crying for help and asking Pakistani army to come save them from the brutal torture and bombing and persecution at the hands of Islamists.
Anyone supporting the cause of Taliban is in reality supporter of Raja Dahir.
