here its almost 21 hours...people are still wondering and debating is it right to fast that long time (apparently there is some fatwa which says that no more than 17hours) or should we follow Saudi-Arabia's timetables...

Next year during Ramadhan day will be even longer...here will be even nightless nights (sun doesnt set at all) so I dont know what should we do then.

I work between 9 to 6 generally. And by the time i come home from downtown..i would just have one hour left..

Next year during Ramadhan day will be even longer...here will be even nightless nights (sun doesnt set at all) so I dont know what should we do then.
My husband went through a Ramadhan like that, when he was in north Russia. The Islamic society there decided to follow the timings with the closest city that had sunrise and sunset

my relatives in norway follow saudi

There is a ruling in norway.... If the sun doesnt set, u follow the timings of the neighbouring cou try... Thats what our friends living there do.

I guess I`m living then much northern! :D
Its just annoying now when everyone has different opinion whats right and whats wrong. Before it was nice that everyone ate together etc. but now its not like that because some follows that 21 hour fast and some goes with Saudi-Arabia timings. I would like to get one rule how everyone should do here! This is just confusing...but I guess it`s more important to do how you personally feel right thing to do. Next year anyway we have to follow some other timings.

last summer, my nephew was in Canadian Tundra [Churchill, Manitoba] for his summer job...the sun there set at 11 pm and was up at 2 am...if he had to fast, the length of the day for roza purposes would have been 22.5 hours...OMG...i had told him to fast, if he had to, for about 17 hours which is the normal length of day at Winnipeg, the nearest big town...he did NOT fast as it is allowed in Islam to skip fast while you are traveling.
