Re: How Islamic Societies Can Regain Its Past Glory

It amazes me when people say that Zia, Shah Faisel, Qaddafi or even Butto were working on Islamic unity or some thing close to that. They must have been doing it in their hearts or something because based on their actions they did the total opposite of creating unity. All of them deprived the citizens of their countries the very basic human right to dissent and justice under the rule of law. They were just opportunist who did different acts to consolodate their rule and nothing much.

As for unity, the basic unit of this whole dream is a muslim citizen, once the rights of muslim citizens are protected by the country or its institutions, the country can take these ideals to other muslim countries with same values. For muslims to come together there must me a common platform, along with Islam. This is where democracy comes in, democracy is the key, by which you can empower citizens, establish institutions, rule of law and transparency, transparency brings trust and credibility and ultimately that brings unity.

Otherwise Countries like Pakistan can have pacts after pacts with other muslim countries, but without a given system non would be valid, or stand the test, each would fall apart just as Baghdad pact or RCD, because we lacked a common system.

How can the democracy, economy, ustice & punishment, arts, music and free thought progress - if everything is dominated through religion.

  1. Religion & politics/Government must be seperated.
  2. Religion & Education must be seperated.
  3. Religion must not become so dominating that a person is unsure, if listening to music is Haram, if not covering your face, toes, hands etc is Haram, masturbation, gays, shaking womans hand, marrying non-muslim, breast feeding, putting lipstick etc etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc -is Haram.

Re: How Islamic Societies Can Regain Its Past Glory

Indeed, it must.

  1. Religion and Politics must be separated. So no Togadias and Modis please.
  2. Religion and Education must be separated. So no glorifying Hitler as Vishnu’s incarnation.
  3. Eating beef.. that should be ok? right? shagging achoots? or cleaning their dung? not drinking cow urine?
