And that is also exactly why you see the middle class doing better and better while the poor are only seeing very marginal gains.
It's true. But the fact that middle class population is growing over last few decades shows that poor are trying their best to come out of jhuggis and want their childrens to study hard. As they know if they learn and get education (off course it has to be science and english) they can get job which can pay them same amt per month their parents use to earn per annum.
so all boils down to Education and Economic development (dont' forget if economy is not booming there won't be new recruitment, no new education institutes.
On IIT's/IIM's , as govt neglected to open new high class institutes, people who can afford started sending their kids abroad for higher education. I have came across many fello pakistani's who are from higher-middle class and want to grow..
