Tv can be a good source of knowledge if you control what you watch, scientific, geographic and discovery channels along with history and info....
we can filter out the rubbish and take the good out of it.

i think it depends..sum ppl find it as the only form of entertainment
i wld rather go to the mall or go visit friends then kill time watchin tv..

Used to be an addict back in pakistan. But then it was the GOLDEN AGE of PTV. The whole evening was planned around those episodes of the popular drama serials. And the days were associated to which drama was shown on which day.
BUT now internet has substituted for TV (for me).
Nothing worthwhile to watch on the idiot box anymore. The only thing I ever watch is the weather channel and occasional (very rare) movies on B4U or SONY TV. But I disagree with NOT having a TV. My kids use it for the playstation, for watching cartoons, wife occasionally watches indian movies. I dont have anything else to offer to them If I take the TV away.

I like watching some of my shows n here, i keep it on as background nose..but I dunno if i wud want my kids watching it.. i used to be glued ot MTV n music chanels in HS, but now i look at it and the stuff is so disgusting.. the hollywood shows, spring break spcials, not to mention regular music videos.. they go against pertty much everything in Islam, materialism, shlalow, sex etc..n i fully admit that I mite not follow Islam as much a I should, I do not want my kids xposed to that kinda filth.. kya karein

I watch it for maybe an hour a day. If I don't get to watch TV I don't miss it. I think the net has substituted for tv watching for most people. I do watch movies on the dvd player but I can easily watch dvds on the PC too. It has become less of a necessity over the years.
I tend to watch tv when I'm sitting at home alone and have nothing much to do. Even then it is hard to find something sensible to watch. When you are at school or at work all day then you have less time to watch and mainly use it for unwinding at night.

few years back when i was in uni...my family moved to toronto and i was still ottawa. i didn't had tv then. all i had was a radio and used to listen to BBC. never felt the need of buying a tv bcoz i never was into watching tv. still don't watch.
