Still I"d tell you what I know!
For the first 3 -4 months when your baby is exclusively on milk, especially if you plan to breastfeed, (rather 6 months, i.e, till your baby is on solids) there isn’t much you can do about the sleep pattern. You can try to feed the baby atleast every two hours during the day and establish a proper routine, especially a bedtime routine. Because babies are more comfortable with a predictable schedule and don’t like surprises Try to keep naptime consistent, though usually babies establish their routines themselves after the first few weeks. Keep bedtime at the same hour everyday, with the same routine, e.g. a bath, a massage, nursing and then sleep. YOu may want to read to your baby before putting her to sleep, trust me they are never too young for that!
Some doctors and some mommies believe in waking up the baby every two hours for a feed, but I think let them sleep all they want to. When they are hungry they wake up!
That’s all I can think of, that you can do during the first few months!
But be prepared! especially if you love your sleep!!! babies are very unpredictable! During the first few weeks, they might even be confused between their days and nights… a baby with day / night confusion will stay up most of the night and sleep most of the day. If it’s like that, then keep her room well-let during the day, even at nap times and put off the lights, or dim them at night, even if she’s playing.
Just pray your baby isn’t colic! Those are the worst
All the best, have a safe and easy (if there’s such a thing) delivery! May Allah be with you.
